What you will do as a STERIS Installation Technician

Under the general direction of experienced Installers, Specialists and the Installation Project Manager, this role provides equipment installation support in accordance with plans and specifications. This includes performing/assisting in delivery, assembly, utility connection, check-out, and final inspection of equipment. Documents required business and regulatory data and related compliance requirements using multiple business systems and apps.

Essential Job Functions
•    Assists Installers and Installation Specialist in creating a positive Customer experience during all phases of the installation process. Maintains courteous and professional demeanor when working with Customers, contractors, management, and fellow employees, 
•    Prior to installation, verify rough-in dimensions and utilities are adequate to meet equipment specifications.  Ensure doorways, elevators, and hallways are sufficient to allow equipment transport to installation site. 
•    Verify that equipment delivered to the customer matches the order, with timely communication re. variance and issues to leadership  
•    Performs/assists in installation of STERIS products, including, but not limited to: uncrating; assembling; setting or lifting product into place; leveling; connecting utilities; and testing unit. 
•    Completes/supports teams in service documentation electronically, including Service Requests, Installation Start Up Checklists, Photos, Expense Reports Daily Installation Progress Reports and email communication.
•    With appropriate supervision, tests unit with live utilities and initiate a basic cycle to verify the integrity of the installation work performed.
•    Provides daily email updates to keep all parties informed and ensure timely in-service, hand off to local technicians, and customer satisfaction.
•    Ensures Customer satisfaction through post-installation activities to include disposal of all associated packing and shipping crate material, ensuring equipment is wiped down and fingerprints are removed, and addressing any questions/issues before leaving the site.
•    Utilize customer protocols re. entering/exiting facilities and abide by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures.
•    Maintain tools, installation materials inventory (consumable products) in line with scheduled installation activity.  
•    Other duties as assigned.

What Skills, Abilities and Education you will need to be successful at STERIS:

•    High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of two years of work experience including demonstrated aptitude in construction, mechanical, electrical, technology or other related service industry (automotive, HVAC, other commercial use equipment).  In lieu of two years experience, completion of technical/vocational training program with apprenticeship experience will be considered.
•    Technical /Vocational school training preferred.
•    Basic computer skills including navigating multiple systems to document and update work progress.  Experience using mobile work apps preferred (phone, tablet, pc) 
•    Experience with creating and maintaining timely, compliant, effective process documentation
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills
•    Basic computer, apps and system navigation experience
•    Strong technical aptitude and preference
•    Proficiency in computers and Windows software.
•    Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
•    Motivated to work independently under loose supervision
•    Flexibility to handle multiple and changing priorities
•    Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside “normal business hours” and travel as required
•    Valid driver’s license
