Position Summary

Site based, 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday.

The Warehouse Supervisor leads the daily Warehouse Operations & Distribution, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of inbound materials, internal movements, and outbound finished goods in line with site QMS requirements. The role safeguards the integrity and traceability of all inventories, optimises material flow and digital warehouse processes, and drives continuous improvement to support our strategic pillars of Operational Effectiveness, Zero‑Defect Manufacturing, Delivering the Perfect Order, and being an Employer of Choice. Through effective people leadership, strong cross functional collaboration, and a proactive HSE culture, the Supervisor ensures reliable warehouse performance that underpins customer satisfaction and the wider success of the Leicester site.

Duties

  1. Provide strong leadership to the warehouse team, creating a high performance culture and deputising for the Warehouse Operations Manager when required.
  2. Lead and supervise daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient inbound processing, raw material flow, accurate customer order picking, and timely despatch.
  3. Own and drive warehouse KPIs, ensuring they are accurately recorded, reviewed, and used to identify issues; lead corrective and preventive actions to improve performance.
  4. Maintain tight inventory management, ensuring raw materials, WIP, and finished goods levels are accurate, controlled, and aligned with FIFO and ERP requirements.
  5. Ensure exceptional accuracy in raw material and customer order picking, using robust process controls, checks, and digital tools to support perfect order fulfilment.
  6. Manage warehouse capacity proactively, using inventory control reports to optimise space, material flow, and readiness for production changes.
  7. Ensure safe, compliant handling and storage of dangerous goods, maintaining segregation rules, correct labelling, and adherence to all relevant regulations.
  8. Oversee compliant shipment of hazardous products, ensuring authorised HAZMAT carriers are used and all documentation, packaging, and labelling is accurate.

  1. Lead continuous improvement activities, encouraging idea generation, implementing improvements, and demonstrating measurable benefits while supporting team involvement in CI processes.
  2. Develop and support colleagues, providing training, coaching, regular performance feedback, and development opportunities in line with the organisation’s GPS framework.
  3. Manage employee absence, ensuring proactive monitoring, timely return to work meetings, early interventions, and consistent application of policy.
  4. Manage and develop talent, including succession planning and ensuring cross training to build team capability and resilience.
  5. Champion 6S and workplace organisation, ensuring the warehouse and yard are consistently clean, safe and organised.
  6. Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System, internal procedures, and warehouse related quality requirements.
  7. Represent the Company as a leadership role model, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and conduct aligned with STERIS values.
  8. Support Company strategy and leadership direction, promoting a collaborative, solutions focused environment across the business.

Education Degree

  • Vocational/Technical

Required Experience

  1. 5 years’ experience working in warehousing and distribution, ideally within a fast paced, high volume environment.
  2. At least 2 years’ supervisory and line management experience, gained within a safety critical environment, including leading teams, developing people, managing performance, and using structured review and feedback processes.
  3. Forklift Truck (FLT) licences, Counterbalance and Reach desirable; training can be supported for the right candidate.
  4. A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing time critical and priority driven workloads, demonstrating strong organisational capability, resilience, and effective decision making under pressure.

  1. Strong Excel Microsoft Office proficiency. Strong skills in Excel for data analysis, KPI tracking, inventory reporting, and problem solving, with solid ability in Word and Outlook.
