Position Summary

Based on site at our Leicester Facility in the UK, 37.5hrs per week. This position requires the Team Leader to rotate weekly on a 6:00-14:00 & 14:00-22:00 shifts, Monday – Friday. 

The post holder will be responsible for leading a variety of manufacturing cells, ensuring that all safety, quality, delivery and cost targets are achieved and in accordance with the safe/standard working procedures. The role requires the completion of all production tasks including, but not limited to, inspection, packing, boxing, labelling and the operation of production machinery.  

To be responsible for site security during outside of normal day hours (Day hours being 7am to 5.30 pm)

Duties

  1. To lead your assigned production cell and its team members, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are consistently met.
  2. Liaise with the supervisor establish the day-to-day production objectives and targets.
  3. To communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and managers.
  4. To solve problems and make decisions associated with the day-to-day production.
  5. Identify deficiencies in production processes by reviewing operational data/gemba walks and improve them.
  6. Drive the organizational culture.
  7. Support the supervisor to manage staff absence e.g., return to work interviews.
  8. Provide input for employee’s performance reviews.
  9. To conduct safety inspections e.g. risk assessments and safety observations.
  10. Operate production machinery to manufacture the businesses range of products across a range of machinery.

which includes: Cartoning machinery, guillotines, flow wrapping machinery, strip bottle machine, rotary guillotine, label printer, dispensing equipment, and saturating machinery, including any new machinery that is required by the business.

  1. To carry out all manual packing/boxing activities.   
  2. To perform and document product inspection.
  3. To carry out 6S and ensure that the workplace is always kept clean and tidy.
  4. To safely use mechanical aids such as manual and powered pallet trucks.
  5. To be understand the requirements of the organisation’s Quality Assurance systems that are specific to the role and take responsibility for all its obligations updating any out of date, incorrect or ineffectual processes by the correct means.
  6. To undertake training / personal development to enable competent performance of all relevant tasks.
  7. To deputise for their supervisor when requested to do so.
  8. To provide support across the production departments when requested to do so, based on business and production requirements.
  9. Support all established lean objectives and participates in lean activities as necessary to support business goals.
  10. To undertake training in various manufacturing processes in order to demonstrate the required level of competency and to train co-workers to the required standard.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Prior experience in a leadership role e.g., Team Leader/Supervisor – 2 years.   
  2. To be educated to a GCSE standard or equivalent and/or be able to demonstrate working at this level or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  3. Must be highly computer literate and be able to effectively use MS Office software and support members in its use.
  4. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing.
  5. Must be able to work as part of a team.
  6. Must have excellent attention to detail.
  7. Requires the ability to work within health and safety guidelines as laid out by the management.
  8. Ability to operate machinery once trained.
  9. Ability to perform repetitive tasks at pace to achieve targets.
  10. The ability to read, understand and complete quality documentation.
  11. Be able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach.
