We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Operations Manager, for our Leicester plant. This is an excellent opportunity to join us at leadership level in a division that drives the business forward through Operational Excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Warehouse Operations & Distribution Manager, leads all warehouse and distribution operations to ensure seamless material flow and inventory accuracy across raw materials and finished goods. This role is pivotal in delivering on our four strategic pillars: Operational Excellence through efficient processes and resource optimisation. Zero Defect Manufacturing by maintaining strict compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards. Employer of Choice by fostering a safe, inclusive, and high performing team culture, and Delivering the Perfect Order by ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant shipments to customers. The position also drives adherence to all corporate and local Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements while championing continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth and Customer satisfaction.

Duties

People Leadership & Teamwork

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the warehouse team to achieve operational objectives, ensuring collaboration and strong communication across all functions.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork and mutual support aligned with our Employer of Choice pillar.
  • Manage staff training, performance, and attendance, maintain accurate training records and ensure continuous development.
  • Plan and manage staff holidays to maintain coverage and operational continuity.

Inventory & Material Control

  • Oversee accurate booking of goods from suppliers in compliance with incoming goods procedures.
  • Conduct goods inward checks and maintain documentation per established quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure accurate kitting and timely issuance of works orders to manufacturing according to production plans.
  • Manage booking in of completed works orders from production following Standard Work Procedures.
  • Maintain inventory integrity through proper storage, accurate location recording, and regular cycle counts.
  • Ensure warehouse areas, equipment, and yard are maintained per company standards.

Compliance & Safety

  • Guarantee adherence to all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and Zero Defect Manufacturing principles.
  • Ensure compliance with Dangerous Goods Regulations and proper handling, segregation, and documentation of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain authorised personnel for signing Dangerous Goods Notes for outbound shipments.
  • Uphold all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Manage inbound/outbound freight carrier bookings and time slots for receiving.
  • Ensure goods are packed safely and dispatched accurately, meeting customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive Deliver the Perfect Order by ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant shipments.
  • Ensure warehouse areas, equipment, and yard are maintained per company standards

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for warehouse operations.
  • Champion SQDIP visual management boards and lead daily team meetings to review progress and priorities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements; encourage staff suggestions to enhance efficiency and service.
  • Participate in monthly management meetings and contribute to site wide initiatives.

Other Duties

  • Represent the company with integrity internally and externally, supporting its values and leadership team.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties aligned with the role’s scope and responsibilities.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in warehousing and distribution.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with the ability to demonstrate work at this level.
  • Valid Forklift / Reach Truck Licence.
  • Knowledge of international shipping processes and documentation.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Trained in handling/distributing Dangerous Goods.

 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a warehouse and distribution setting (minimum 3 years preferred).
  • Highly organised and adaptable, able to deliver proactive support to management, sales teams, and shipping partners.
