Position Summary
As a Systems Performance Engineering Associate II you will assist in ensuring that our sterilization monitoring and control solutions are successfully tested, configured, commissioned, and maintained through the entire product lifecycle. You will ensure all new products and product updates are verified to our quality standards and regulatory requirements, successful deployment and validation at Customer facilities, and knowledge is transferred prior to operation and supported/maintained as per Customer service level agreements. In this role you will work closely with the Applications and Controls developers, Mechanical/Electrical teams, and Customers to achieve these objectives. As a Systems Performance Engineering Associate II you may assist, guide and mentor student workers and Associate level team member.
This role requires onsite work 5 days a week at our Kanata, Ontario location.
What You'll do as a Systems Performance Engineering Associate II:
- Communicate and collaborate with design teams members.
- Adhere to all Quality Standard practices.
- Utilize Quality management tools.
- Contribute to a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher-level management and perform other duties as assigned.
- Develop testing protocols, test plans and helps to prepare the necessary test environment. Documents system requirements, applying workflows, and performing system configurations. Review system functional specifications.
- Prepare and perform testing on medical device sterilization control systems.
- Assist in validation and commissioning activities carried out in the office and at Customer sites.
- Provide support to Customers using excellent Customer service and communication skills to represent STERIS positively.
- Respond to Customer tickets and work with the team to provide root-cause analysis and implement solutions.
- Provide support to Customers in troubleshooting system issues.
- Support Customer application upgrades.
- Lead small Customer projects with supervision.
- Participate in the development and publication system user guides.
- Contribute to the technical training to Customers.
- Provide training and mentorship to Associate level System Performance Engineers.
The Experience,Skills, and Abilities Needed:
Required
- High school diploma/ GED and minimum of 11 years' related expereince.
- Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.
- Experience in providing software and control system support to customers, troubleshooting system issues, and responding to customer tickets.
- Experience in developing testing protocols, test plans, and preparing test environments. Proficient in testing, validating, and commissioning systems with oversight.
- Knowledge of software verification and support concepts, principles, and systems. Familiarity with (not necessarily development experience) software development languages and operating systems, control systems, and development tools such as .NET, C#, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/Angular, Web Platforms, SQL Server/SSMS.
- Ability to document system requirements, functional specifications, and create design specifications based on user or functional specifications with limited oversight.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems performance engineering or a related field.
- Ability to lead small customer projects with supervision and contribute to team efforts in problem-solving and developing creative solutions.
- Experience in providing technical training to customers and mentoring associate-level engineers.
- Knowledge/Experience in creating design specifications based on user or functional specifications with limited oversight.
- Experience working within a quality system and utilization of quality management tools.
- Ability to document work via technical reports, diagnostic reports, validation reports, etc., with limited oversight.
- Ability to gather and understand feedback from the service team and customers with limited oversight.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with design team members and other stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage competing priorities with guidance.
Other
- Knowledge of Requirements Management systems (e.g. Jama).
- Knowledge of Jira Software tools and Jira Service Desk.
- Knowledge of software verification and support concepts, principles and systems, and working knowledge other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, civil)
- Knowledge of sterilization methods and processes across multiple modalities.
- Experience in software and controls scope of impact/risk assessment methods to contribute to decision making and quoting efforts.
