Position Summary:

As the Paint Technician, you will be responsible for all prep, refinish, and paint work required to refurbish medical equipment including surgical tables.  You will use a variety of power and pneumatic tools and know how to complete these tasks in a high quality, effective manner to service our Customer.  Safety in use of these tools in a paint booth environment as well as the use of personal protective equipment and safety protocols required.

What You Will Do:

  • Prep and paint equipment and accessories. Both air sprayer and brush applications
  • Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc. in order to complete quality work
  • Prepare color tint to match paint color, mix paint colors and follow all manufacturing paint guidelines
  • Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the table to the production line
  • Day to day duties include:  paint with spray gun, brush on paint, buffing and finishing, grinding, sanding and preparing equipment for paint, wipe down, tape, and mask tables, mix paint and clean spray guns, spray primer and apply light body filler
  • Maintain and perform published productivity standards on moderately challenging assemblies by utilizing a work instruction, prints, schematics, and standard work
  • Maintain and perform high quality standards (meet the departments published quality standards and overall Customer satisfaction standards
  • Maintain safe work areas and perform safe work habits in accordance to all safety regulations, audits, and actively holds self and teammates accountable to safe working conditions including all needed and/or required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Apply and perform to 5S programs and act with a LEAN mindset to work
  • Perform to all policies, procedures and STERIS values as trained and communicated
  • Other duties as needed including helping with material handling and equipment refurbishing; always ready to pitch in and help the team

What You Need to be Successful:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in professional prep & spray painting of automobiles or other equipment in paint booth environments required.  Experience in metal finishing, especially stainless steel required
  • Certification or Technical School completion preferred 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, focus on quality of work, right the first time through specific quality systems
  • Ability to read and write details about each repair including basic organizational and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 
  • Proven ability to take direction, to listen, learn, and work in a team environment. Ability to effectively communicate with teammates and leadership
  • Understanding of and willingness to adhere to STERIS Values and support our Mission and Vision
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where employees pitch in together and lend a helping plan on whatever is needed
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends, flexible shifts as needed
