Position Summary

The Materials Supervisor works in the warehouse and production facility to manage all aspects of material flow, control, and accuracy over inventories. This includes daily receipt, stocking, inventorying, storing, pulling, packing, processing of goods to both internal/external customers. The Materials Supervisor is also responsible for the initiation and maintenance of standard work and other departmental procedures to achieve inventory integrity while also improving the Materials Group overall Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives. This is accomplished using Lean Tools to identify problems, recommend solutions and drive implementation using continuous improvement activities.

Duties

  • Using Lean Tools; identify, participate, and implement continues improvement activities to impact departments overall quality, cost, and delivery initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains standard work documentation and other AMI procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Performs 5S, Standard Work, Stand-in-Circle, and Inventory audits to identify opportunities of improvement.
  • Performs extensive root cause analysis using our 8 Step Problem Solving Tools and implement corrective action measures.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; time and attendance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for creating, measuring, analyzing and disseminating data to support SQCD measurements.
  • Participates and facilitates the implementation of Safety and Ergonomic improvements.
  • Participates and facilitates the implementation Idea Generation System.
  • Participates and facilitates T-Card (5s) sustainment and audit activities.
  • Develops and manages departmental budget requirements to include capital requisitions.
  • Maintains, evaluates, recommends, and implements improvements in material requirements to drive down inventory levels.
  • Ensures timeliness and accuracy of inventory and inventory control activities to include cycle count program.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, or related field. 
  • 4 years of experience working in a warehouse.
    • OR High School Diploma PLUS 12 years of experience working in a warehouse.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience. 
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications such as: Excel and Word. 

Preferred Experience

  • Direct hands-on experience in an MRP systems environment. 
  • Prior Materials Manager experience. 
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to write route reports and correspondence. 
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience.

Work Schedule

  • This is an onsite position based in Indianapolis, IN.
  • The schedule is M-F, 8am - 4:30pm. 
  • Occasional overtime.
