Position Summary

The Senior Account Manager (SAM) owns, leads and sells STERIS IMS repair services to develop and build new, and penetrate existing relationships within an assigned territory. The SAM works with a support team to ensure customers needs and expectations are met.  Expected to achieve a maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within assigned territory by managing existing accounts and prospecting revenue opportunities.


  1. Develops strategy and leads implementation for sales growth within assigned accounts.
  2. Utilize effective discovery questions to better understand our Customer needs, Value Drivers, and challenges in obtaining business results.
  3. Define STERIS IMS solutions in a way that differentiates STERIS IMS from our comptetitors.
  4. Utilize STERIS IMS tools and resources to qualify new sales opprotunities to ensure clarity and value of products and services.
  5. Utilize the Opportunity Plan process while working with new Customers and/or new products and services with existing Customers.
  6. Initiates, builds and develops relationships with all key and/or executive decision makers that will result in profitable business awarded to STERIS IMS.
  7. Develops and communicates launch requirements for new business with appropriate internal (STERIS IMS) departments, the field sales team, and external Customer, to ensure all affected parties understand responsibilities and activities to maintain and continue business growth.
    1. This role works directly with field and corporate employees assigned to the same territory. Incumbents spend the majority of their time in the field with new/exiting Customers to identify the potential for new business.  Incumbents collaborate with internal colleagues to prospect new business and set up appointments with Customers.
    2. Utilizes support structure to resolve Customer service issues such as tracking down delayed repairs, billing issues, etc.


  1. Quote and close new business
  2. Responsible for providing the following in accounts in territory:
    1. Quarterly Business Review
    2. Proactive Maintenance Inspections
    3. Departmental Evaluations
    4. In Services
    5. 1 CLS in Ft. Lauderdale and 1 in Birmingham a year
  3. Updates the STERIS IMS CRM system as required to document Customer information, sales activities, purchase orders, and other information required by the Company
  4. May Performs Scope Audits/OR Evaluations which is an evaluation performed for Customers on best practices in caring for and maintaining scopes
  5. May be required to pick up scopes or other instruments and/or make arrangements for pick up/repair
  6. Collects POs within prescribed timeframe so that business can be properly billed
  7. Utilizes support structure to resolve Customer service issues such as tracking down delayed repairs, billing issues, etc.
  8. Works with on location team, regional product managers, KAT, and all teams to service the customers properly.
  9. Obtain and maintain required industry certifications within one year of hire, including AORN vendor certification, SGNA vendor certification, and/or IAHCSMM certification.
  10. Develops relationships with chapters of local industry groups and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Minimum 7 years successful sales experience, (proven track record of exceeding sales goals) within Healthcare or in another Service industry
  2. Demonstrated capability calling on senior department Managers/leaders (OR, GI, SPD, Service line leader)
  3. Demonstrated exceptional capability/success selling full suite of products and services (i.e., good product penetration at his/her accounts)
  4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally
  5. Bachelors degree preferred
  6. Industry certifications required (IAHCSMM, AORN, SGNA, and/or CCSVP)
  7. Solid system skills (Microsoft Office, Sales/Customer tracking software packages)
  8. Drivers license with acceptable driving record
  9. Position requires working vehicle compliant with Company requirements which includes maintaining minimum levels of insurance
  10. Must possess working Smart phone (allowance will be provided)
  11. No objection to GPS tracking (will be on phone or vehicle)
  12. Must be available during common Customer hours, which can vary (might include evening hours)
