*This role requires 75% travel throughout the U.S. therefore you can live anywhere in the Continental United States. Cities like Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, New York, Cleveland, and Baltimore are ideal locations, although any city near a large airport is fine.  

The Field Service Specialist is a technical leader providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, equipment modifications, and installation planning/coordination/support on TruFreeze Equipment.  You will become a technical subject matter expert on the TruFreeze device. As a technical leader you will mentor and teach all levels of service technicians and ensure a positive Customer experience in the most difficult Customer interactions. 

What you will do:

•    Resolve difficult technical issues throughout the country. Technical subject matter expert for team. This includes:  disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts; rewiring or reassembling as required; troubleshooting, adjusting/calibrating, and certifying equipment ready for use by using standard and specialized tools and test equipment (i.e., schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, etc.).

•    Troubleshoot, repair, modify, overhaul, or refurbish standard and special purpose equipment and systems components.

•    Ensure exceptional Customer service by providing service calls, warranty calls, field upgrade programs, etc.  Coordinate and plan equipment installation, equipment upgrades and specialty services.  

•    Serve as a Technical Leader by learning new equipment and being responsible for training others. Serve as an advisor for engineering service documentation, when applicable

•    Perform administrative duties as assigned to ensure effective planning, utilization, and required paperwork completion.  This includes, but is not limited to:  plan daily and weekly schedule to achieve optimum utilization.

•    Develop and maintain effective, communicative relationships with Customers, managers, support functions and the sales organization.  Work closely with in-house biomeds in an effort to build relationships and avenues for STERIS to pursue contract opportunities. Communicate activities to Customers related to estimated time of arrival for unscheduled work.  Utilize provided product and industry knowledge to assure Customer’s expectations of service are exceeded.  Recommend product enhancements based on knowledge of the Customers equipment applications and processes. May be utilized by the Sales Director for Customer sensitive projects or to mediate Customer issues.

•    Maintain at all times a courteous and professional demeanor when working with Customers, contractors, management, and fellow employees. Utilize Customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities and abide by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures.  

•    Provide solutions to Customers to enhance sales and growth in the field through effective positioning of STERIS products and services, identifying opportunities, and passing leads to management and sales.
 

What you need to be successful:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of electro-mechanical technical experience.
  • In lieu of degree 8+ years of electro-mechanical technical experience, hands on technical experience with an emphasis on Customer or client relationships and interactions.
  • STERIS experience preferred.
  • Strong, hands-on experience in electrical/electronics and mechanical technologies.
  • Proven technical leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Experienced with test equipment such as multimeter, oscilloscope, volumetric flow meter, etc.
  • Proven ability to handle technical situations and perform device maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems, interpret technical documents and literature.
  • Ability to isolate and identify difficult device issues and recommend best action to resolve.
  • Ability to create unique solutions for device issues.
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to interface with customers in a positive, professional
    manner
  • Must be computer literate, an analytical thinker with good engineering aptitude
