We are currently recruiting for a Project Design Manager to join this incredible journey and make their impact. 

The Project Design Manager (PDM) is primarily responsible for strategically leading and coordinating Healthcare resources to maximize healthcare project wins.  This is done by serving as a consultant to hospitals and systems undergoing construction and/or renovation, ensuring positioning of STERIS’s products and services to meet the specific Customer goals and address both short-term and long-term needs. 

The PDM has key involvement in oversight and liaison activities for all aspects of the process and manages the interest of an extremely diverse group of stakeholders (both internal and external). Capital projects may range 6-48 months and occur over multiple phases. 

Additionally, this position serves as the key “hub” for the coordination of Healthcare resources through comprehensive project management and ongoing communication, follow up and training as required.  This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the entire healthcare field team as well as equipment planners, architects, consultants, engineers and healthcare facility executives.


  • Serves our Customers by identifying Customers’ needs, and driving the conceptual design requirements
  • Targets Customer needs while growing and expanding the scope of project business
  • Prospects and pursues future project business through establishing relationships third parties.
  •  Utilizes industry relationships, lead services and market intelligence to identify project opportunities.
  • Conducts Customer presentations providing a comprehensive view to STERIS’s complete offering of all products, services and competitive advantages
  • Serves as technical consultant for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively influences the pricing strategy of all project business
  • Collaborates with Sales to determine the strategic approach to capitalize on all levels of project goals.

  • Responsible for managing design deliverables for projects from initial analysis through install with oversight of the entire project through completion. 
  • Manages the design planning process for projects.
  • Collaborates with architectural and engineering hospital consultants, to ensure that the design is accurate, clinically relevant & compliant
  • Serves as liaison and primary point of contact between all impacted stakeholders at Customer sites.
  • Performs project management work by managing complex, multi-functional projects. 
  • Monitors the progress and quality of a project, and resolves project barriers
  • Develops a communication plan and related project status reports for key stakeholders 
  • Provides feedback to marketing on new product launches
  • May perform research and benchmarking to update and improve design and process standards. 
  • Keeps Business Units, Director, and Product Managers informed on manufacturing and quality issues..   
  • Conducts training seminars, educating the professional community and serving in a consultative and supportive role.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • Healthcare capital market experience with significant experience supporting capital projects in the Healthcare sector.
  • Knowledge of technical, professional and business in the fields of healthcare delivery, architecture, and construction and building design process; knowledge of space planning and construction/remodel projects.
  • Good understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) building systems.
  • Awareness knowledge of legal issues and safety standards.

Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated organizational project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or independently and prioritize work by making informed judgement and develop solution for complex problems.


  • Strong critical thinking, analytic skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills. Must be able to improvise in Customer situations to a successful resolution.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure technologies including network and server infrastructure and web services. 
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional communication skills; written, verbal and presentation.
  • Must possess a strong personal presence.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with widely diverse groups, including individual at all levels both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation.
  • Demonstrated ability lead and influence a cross functional team and operate in a highly complex environment.

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.
