To provide support through personal example, promoting sound departmental communication and fostering good interpersonal relationships.

To contribute to the management of a busy Repair and manufacturing facility, ensuring that the repair and manufacturing provision complies with current legislation.


The primary role of the repair technician is to perform repairs on medical devices or instruments. Technicians must be familiar with various types of surgical devices or instruments and understand how to best maintain and repair them, all Technician II repairers will work independently and been overseen at time by a supervisor.

All repairs completed to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.


Responsible for the direction and flow of repair orders through their assigned area.

Responsible for evaluation, troubleshooting and repairing medical devices. Performs repairs on most types of categories of medical devices. All repairs are completed to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner by performing the following duties.




· Technicians are expected to be a role model for their team members and always adhere to best practice and standards

· Ensure Repair order output, order timeliness and quality are met at all times.

· Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of all factory equipment and its safe use

· Technicians will ensure that all work areas/ benches are kept clean and tidy at all times

· Performs repairs on most surgical devices or instruments. In certain situations, technicians may specialize in a particular repair category

· Responsible for reporting any faults found with machinery and equipment

· Works collaboratively with fellow team members to complete repair orders in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards.

· Technicians will communicate with their supervisor if stock levels are low and require replenishing

· Disassembles malfunctioning medical devices or equipment, troubleshoots and uses standardized testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects.

· Replaces or repairs defective parts; may require modification or manufacturing replacement components.

· Reassembles medical devices or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.

· Abides by all company safety and health policies and procedures as defines. Must use personal protective equipment if required.

· To ensure the effective communication between senior management and production teams.

· To make judgements involving a range of facts or situations at departmental level, which require analysis or comparison of a range of options.

· To assist in the dissemination of research based practice knowledge.

· To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required by management

The jobholder will comply with the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974 and other supplementary legislation and is required to take reasonable care to avoid injury during the course of work and co-operate with the Trust’s and Company’s Health and Safety policy and statutory regulations.

To use in a proper safe manner the equipment and facilities provided.

To refrain from wilful misuse of, or interference with, anything provided in the interest of health and safety and any action, which might endanger yourself and others.

To report as soon as practical accidents, hazards and untoward incidents and to ensure that accident forms are completed.
