Position Summary

The Trainee Repair Technician is responsible for learning and practicing repairs on Medical Instruments and/or Devices.  The Technician will become familiar with various types of Instruments and/or Devices and learn how to best maintain and repair them.

All repairs completed to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.


  • Responsible for the repair of basic medical devices and general instruments.
  • Trained under the Supervision of experienced Technicians, following the Work Instructions issued by the company.
  • To follow the instruction of the mentor / Trainer to STERIS Quality standards
  • Communicate with their Team Leader/Manager if stock levels are low and require replenishing
  • Support senior management with customer site visits (presentations) and Marketing projects
  • Employees are expected to be role models for their team members and always adhere to best practice and standards
  • Ensure that all work areas/ benches are always kept clean and tidy
  • Works collaboratively with fellow team members to complete repair orders in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards.

  • To ensure the effective communication between senior management and production teams.
  • Abides by all company Health and Safety policies and procedures as defined. Must use personal protective equipment when required.
  • Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of all factory or lab equipment and its safe use
  • Report any faults found with machinery and equipment
  • Disassembles malfunctioning medical devices or equipment, troubleshoots, and uses standardized testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects.
  • Ensure Repair order output, order timeliness and quality standards are always met.
  • Supports Company’s ISO goals and objectives and ensures compliance to ISO requirements.
  • To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required by management

Required Experience

  1. 1 year of work experience, at time of hire.
  2. Experience working with your hands, repairing, fixing, or making things (preferred).
  3. Experience in a mechanical field (preferred). 
  4. Good competency with IT (preferred).

  6. Ability to understand repair concepts and follow sequencing or repair processes 
  7. Ability to assemble small parts.
