Requirements Needed:

 

  • Knowledge of diagnostics, troubleshooting, and inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of STERIS Healthcare Surgical product lines, past and present is a plus.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing, drafting work, wiring schematic practices preferred.  
  • Ability to operate electronic test equipment as required.
  • Knowledge of Audio and/or video signal flow
  • Proficient with computers to provide system software and hardware upgrades and repairs to all PC operating systems
  • Ability to solve complex mechanical/systems problems utilizing technical manuals, publications, and engineering support.
  • Good hand/eye coordination (manual dexterity), basic organizational and troubleshooting/problem solving skills and attention to details

What You Will Do:

The Repair Technician is responsible for handling all incoming defective OR Integration equipment.  Evaluating and repairing (or returning to a third party repair facility) and/or refurbishing the equipment to either be returned to a Customer, or put into stock to be used as refurbished equipment.  The technician handles all adminstartive work required for the repair start to finish,  including but not limited to: repair documentation and test results, RMA paperwork, shipping documents, Customer quotes, and final closure of the RMA.  They will communicate with the STERIS Field Reps, STERIS ORI Technical Support team and Customers directly to discuss repair status, costs and quoating, and arrange for completed RMAs to be shipped out to the Customer Site. 

What You Need to Be Successful:

High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of relevant experience required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electronics, mechanics or a similar discipline, plus 1+ year(s) of related experience, is strongly preferred. This position may be elevated to a Field Service Technician II role for candidates that possess an appropriate level of relevant experience as determined by STERIS.

 

  • Demonstrated computer knowledge to include word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail computer skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent organization, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and systematic problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to listen and learn, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work overtime and hours outside normal business hours as needed, based on Customer needs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, peers and management.
  • Provide strong internal and external Customer Service.
  • Work independently. 
  • Excellent punctuality and attendance.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong technical, organizational, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with navigating a computer and exposure to Microsoft Office programs.
  • Comfortable working independently without supervision.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple, changing priorities.
  • Physical working requirements include:

 

  • Routine movement such as walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling and grasping.
  • Performing work from floor level to above shoulder height. This may include the use of ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • Routinely lifting, lowering and carrying 1 to 35 pounds, as well as occasionally lifting and lowering 36 to 49 pounds.
  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Working in confined spaces and under variable temperatures.
