Position Summary
Responsible to act as manufacturing liaison and coordinate all activities affecting the introduction of new products into the manufacturing cycle. Responsible for development and expense control of manufacturing capital equipment and tooling needed for new product manufacture. Participates in product design and overall project and manufacturing schedule development. Evaluates, selects and applies Manufacturing Engineering techniques to develop economical and efficient methods to produce piece parts and/or assemblies. Provides necessary input to develop cost, prepare manufacturing specifications for various operations/work stations.
Recommends and implements design changes to improve reliability, manufacturability and cost.
Duties
- Review and help generate product documentation pertaining to engineering drawings including initial release and subsequent revisions.
- Review products for the purpose of reducing cost of manufacturing through value analysis, material substitution, process changes, make/buy decisions. Recommend rearrangement of plant facilities.
- Helps to develop manufacturing schedules and generates manufacturing plans for prototype, pre-production and production.
- Develop clear and concise manufacturing specifications/instructions to maintain quality and to assure smooth work flow through the factory.
- Provide floor support during the manufacturing cycle, verify standards, and update manufacturing specifications.
- Develop workmanship standards to accommodate manufacturing/inspection and assure conformance to specifications.
- Develop standard cost estimates and establishes standard cost.
- Assure manufacturing facilities, tooling and test equipment are available to mmet production requirements.
- Perform manufacturing studies leading to recommendations for new and improved methods, procedures and equipment utilization.
- Review and evaluate plant capacity and capabilities; recommend action to optimize burden absorption.
- Perform related Human Resources functions associated with supervision, including but not limited to hiring, performance evaluation, training, employee development, corrective action, and employment separation.
Education Degree
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Other
Required Experience
- Four to five (4 to 5) years' experience in manufacturing engineering disciplines, with progressively more responsibility.
- Must be technically knowledgeable to Good Manufacturing Practices relating to machines, metal forming, metal joining, assembly.
- Experience with Pro-Engineer (Pro-E) and AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience working in engineering and/or manufacturing of medical equipment.
