Senior Sourcing Development Engineer

Position Summary
Manage continuous improvement activities with STERISs Monterrey Plant. The successful candidate will identify, plan, coordinate and implement improvement projects in quality, cost, and delivery between the respective entities. Establish and maintain liaison relationship with Monterrey engineering, current products engineering, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, purchasing, planning, marketing departments, and the supply base to meet cost optimization objectives.
Duties
1.Work individually or with cross-functional teams on new and existing products to develop parts cost optimization programs. This may be accomplished through techniques such as design analysis, material substitution or standardization, part count reduction, design simplification, manufacturing process simplification or other proven cost optimization techniques.
2. Implement improvements for cost optimization, cycle time reduction initiatives with suppliers, and process improvements. Approve new design or recommend modifications based on productivity, cost, and component technology factors.
3. Work closely with suppliers in establishing relationships and participate in / lead supplier contract negotiations. Establish supplier programs to investigate new technologies or processes that will yield better quality/cost position for STERIS
4. Analyze product design to determine conformance to design selection criteria, use of standardized parts and equipment, and design-to-cost ratio. Perform design trade-off for cost and manufacturing; make/buy decision involving components to products and also processes.
5. Provide regular updates and reports to manager and purchasing staff on cost improvements.
6. Interface as a liaison between purchasing and engineering, manufacturing, accounting, and other departments to ensure continuity and effectiveness of addressing cost improvement initiatives
Education Degree
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering General or Other
Required Experience
1. 1- 8 years experience applying engineering skills in product design or operations/manufacturing for electrical/mechanical products.
2. 3 years experience with demonstrated results in product cost project management or engineering project management.
3. 3 years of commodities purchasing/ sourcing experience preferred.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing costs systems and/or cost accounting.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and negotiation skills.
6. Excellent organizational skills, results driven.
7. Experience in supply chain optimization, value stream engineering, or six sigma, a plus.
