Job Title:  Facilities Technician

Position Summary

This Facilities Technician role is a position within the engineering team based at the STERIS Galway laboratory. The site provides testing and technical services to the medical device and pharma industries. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to the job, be proficient in procurement, carrying out building repairs/installations, dealing with organising external contractors and seeking quotes, and be able to respond to priority tasks.

Duties

• Perform and document daily checks on facility supply equipment, building, and associated utilities.
• Conduct scheduled checks on facility supply services activities.
• Organise scheduled maintenance with external contractors.
• Inspection of work carried out by external contractors.
• Record activities in the computerised maintenance system.
• Support installation and of new equipment with assisting in critical supply services.
• Coordinate external contractors such as electricians, plumbers, builders etc.
• Evaluate contractor works undertaken onsite and create and manage discrepancies.
• Identify improvement opportunities in current processes.
• Carry out building repairs and improvements.
• Carry out daily checks on critical facility supply infrastructure systems including compressed air and chilled water systems.
• Structure and prioritise tasks according to business needs.

Education Degree

Required Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, with a proven track record in facilities management. They will be able to demonstrate their ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and their experience in dealing with external contractors and procurement processes. A background in a trade would be advantageous. They will also be proficient in manual tasks and have the ability to respond quickly to priority tasks. They will be able to carry out building repairs and daily checks on critical facility supply infrastructure systems, including compressed air and chilled water systems. They will also have the ability to structure and prioritise tasks according to business needs.
