Position Summary

Responsible and authorized for the implementation of health, safety, and security programs applicable to the facility.  Performs duties in compliance with regulations, plans and conducts safety and security training, security management, emergency response, and industrial hygiene services.  Responsible for the development and implementation of safety and loss prevention programs.

Duties

  1. Implementation of Best Practices related to Environmental Health and Safety
  2. Maintenance of actual OHSAS 18001 Management System
  3. Implementation of Environmental Management System on STERIS Monterrey
  4. Provides resources to employees, supervisors, and managers to improve the health, safety, and security of the workplace. 
  5. Identifies, appraises, provides advice, and makes recommendations for correction, and oversees implementation of corrective actions necessary to protect the company, employees, and financial resources.
  6. Develops and implements incident prevention and loss control methods, procedures, and programs.
  7. Maintains necessary health, safety, and security records.  Provides loss control information for employees, supervisors, and managers, also corporate interface to safety, health and hazardous waste departments.
  8. Prepares information necessary for government and other required reporting, including contesting citations and guiding appeals.
  9. Provides training resources, including lesson plan development and delivery.
  10. Participates in internal committees and external professional organizations.
  11. Manages the facility return-to-work program.
  12. Coordinates applicable vendor products and services, including security guards. 
  13. Process employee performance reviews and salary adjustments in a timely manner.
  14. The person in this position has full access to facilities, records and complete authority to make decisions concerning any EHS system issues, emergencies situations and/or health, safety and environment.
  15. Makes significant efforts of continuous improvement to achieve excellence:  complies with SQDC disciplines and participates or leads waste-reduction projects.
  16. Active participation of the SAFETY, CONTINUOS IMPROVEMENT and TRAINING initiatives, which include but are not limited to: A3 Certification and projects, STOP Observations, Monthly Safety Audits, SQDC board maintenance, upgrade and administration of KPI for the area, propose and execute CIP (Cost Improvement Projects), maintenance of LSW sheet, upgrade and maintenance of initiatives using Dploy system.  

Specific Work Experience Requirements

  1. Five (5) to seven (7) years experience in the EHS profession.  Experience in a factory environment preferred.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with fire protection, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, system safety, behavior-based safety processes, engineering design review, fleet safety, EHS  management systems, and computer applications.

Education Degree

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Engineering General
