Senior Software Engineer

Position Summary

The Software Engineer is part of the R&D team and will be working on both Repair Capability, New Product Development, New and Emerging Technology Research, and Intellectual Property creation. The Software Engineer will handle a wide range of embedded software projects from low layer (hardware interfacing) to higher level (UI interfacing) work. The Software Engineer works with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate strategies and facilitate plans to make sure the technologies are inter-connected and projects are delivered on time with quality.


  1. Develop new product concepts and designs. Deliver prototypes and final product on specifications and requirements.
  2. Conduct design reviews at the project level and collaborate with peers on technical design, development, work estimation, system integration, and testing.
  3. Run software validation & testing routines. 
  4. Collaborate with management to prioritize and set direction of overall software development efforts of the project.  Participate in product and program discussions and gathers all requirements to formulate appropriate architecture required to provide system functionality of product or assemblies.
  5. Work with R&D, Product Development, and Sales/Marketing to analyze the marketplace, competition, and technology trends. Conduct new technology research, concept specification and design of individual software components.
  6. Deconstruct code to study, analyze, and learn details of designs, construction and operation.  Document systems including testing and validation. 
  7. Apply understanding of existing product and clinical applications to define new product or process functionality.
  8. Ensure safety and regulatory standards are being followed with respect to design, application requirements and proper maintenance. 
  9. Demonstrate skill for independent analysis and synthesis of solutions for problems, exhibiting creativity, foresight, innovation and judgment in anticipating and solving these problems. 
  10. Initiate and maintain strategic supplier and partner relationships with key individuals of other organizations, requiring skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
  11. Independently plan and manage own work activities to department objectives.


Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering General

Required Experience

  • 5+ years related experience in programming, software application design and development for embedded products.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Master preferred.
  • Proficiency with the following Languages/Tools: C/C++, Assembly, Source code control (Git, SVN, JIRA, etc.)
  • Proficiency in debugging code and improving the performance of existing programs. 
  • Understanding of embedded systems and architectures. Experience in embedded Linux.
  • Familiar with all aspects of software development (requirements, design, implementation, test), software development life cycle (Agile, Waterfall), and structural design techniques.
  • Mastery of the English Language.  Ability to analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, legal documents and communicate effectively in English to key partners who may not have the same mastery of engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Familiar with: Qt framework, OpenCV, cloud-based REST API. 
  • Experience in motor control, camera system, image processing, computer vision. 
  • Experience in medical device domain and FDA regulation (IEC62304 / IEC60601). 
  • Engineering knowledge crossing into multiple technical disciplines: software, hardware, mechanical. 
  • Ability to consistently apply complex analytical methods. 
  • Working knowledge of operating systems: Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android. 
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Candidate must be passionate about software development. 
  • Strong personal accountability to achieve goals. 
  • Ability to be a change agent.  
  • Persuasive and politically astute to manage various functions internally with business partners and externally with customers. 
  • Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to handle stress. 
  • Able to lead cross-functional teams on projects at the project level.
