Position Summary

The Manager, Facilities Maintenance will be responsible for managing inspecting and maintaining facility systems such as, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. The successful candidate will oversee the company’s facility operations, manage maintenance staff, facilitate office moves and manage janitorial duties, all while remaining in compliance with STERIS standards as well as local, state, federal and all governing regulations.   1. Uphold STERIS's Business Practice Standards and follow all established company policies and procedures.
  2. Develop routine systems to ensure constant monitoring of STEIRIS Facility to include any problem areas.
  3. Ensure consistent maintenance and repair methods for all building components. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly building inspections with a high attention to detail to identify necessary repairs.
  4. Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance for facility to include timely repairs in the areas of painting, carpentry, plumbing, food and beverage equipment, seating and all related building components.
  5. Provide constant attention to all safety issues; ensure building emergency systems are operational through in-house inspections and vendor maintenance contracts, licenses or similar.
  6. Supervise, inspect and provide direction and follow-up with janitorial/cleaning service provider. Ensure compliance with contract and STERIS cleaning standards.
  7. Follow instructions on safe use of all chemicals/cleaning materials.
  8. Supervise Maintenance staff including, presort mail services, vendor meetings and memos sent on behalf of the Global Facilities and Real Estate Department. Order necessary supplies to satisfy the needs of the facility including paper, postage, mailroom items, cleaning supplies and other miscellaneous equipment. 
  9. Increase the efficiency of the Facilities Maintenance staff by providing cost saving ideas, and innovative ways to provide more effective services. 
  10. Maintain spreadsheet of door/office keys and inventory of existing keys and distribute when necessary. 
  11. Assist in the coordination of individual and large-scale cubical moves and reconfigurations throughout the facility as assigned by manager.
  12. Prepare the Facilities Maintenance Department Fiscal Year Expense Budget for Director Global Facilities. Maintain and review with manager on monthly basis.

  1. Provide written reports documenting facility Maintenance Department operations as may be assigned.  
  2. Coordinate and organize  Facilities Maintenance Department during evacuations and emergency response situations with manager and other STERIS response teams.
  3. Participate in coordination of means, methods and task with other Global Facilities sites and teams as may be directed by manager.
  4. Manage facilities maintenance software and related systems as may be requested by manager.
  5. Assist with coordination and management of Global Records Retention and retention policy. Manage and coordinate physical records inventory for STERIS sites.
  6. Complete all other functions and assignments as may be assigned by manager.
  7. Promote exceptional Customer care and service to both our internal and external Customers.
  8. Review vendor billing, purchase orders for processing and payment. Work with Global Facilities Coordinator to assist with processing payment to outside vendors and contractors.    
  9. Assist with preparation of outlining contracts with various STERIS vendors as may be assigned by manager.
  10. Oversee vendor activities that include the scheduling of repair and maintenance needs as required; closely monitor progress to ensure quality of work.
  11. Manage special projects, as may be assigned by Director of Global Facilities and Real Estate, with outside vendors including, kitchen staff, furniture suppliers, vending and coffee equipment, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cleaning services, waste management, pest control, construction, outside landscaping and offsite record storage. 
  12. Perform facility maintenance management tasks and special facilities related projects as may be assigned by Global Facilities and Real Estate Director or manager.

Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience


  1. 7 + years’ experience within maintenance or facilities related position 
  2. 5+ years’ experience in facilities management position
  3. 3+ years in a supervisory or lead position
  4. Must maintain knowledge of technical, building operations, basic mechanical systems and facilities management best practices
  5. Understanding of basic accounting and finance principles
  6. Knowledge of building maintenance, repair, construction, materials, and equipment
  7. Able to read and understand blue prints, electrical, mechanical and automation systems
  8. Have a valid Drivers License
