Job Title:  Design Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for a Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join the Hu-Friedy Plant in Fidenza. 

1. Design Engineer (Mechanical) - this role will be predominant, i.e. 70% of the time: Designs new or revised products using established engineering principles to meet functional requirements or performance specifications.  Handles design problems of moderate complexity using a variety of standard engineering methods/techniques.  Develops design verification protocols.  May assist more senior engineers in solving complex problems.  May serve as project leader of projects of limited scope.
2. Manufacturing Engineer (Mechanical) – This role will be 30% of the time: Performs engineering work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve manufacturing production.  Examines equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions and suggests improvements. May have responsibility to carry out changes or monitor operations standards.  Evaluates vendor proposals for new equipment purchases.  Develops and conducts process validations and process risk management.  May serve as project leader of projects of medium scope.

Duties

1. Prepares straightforward plans, designs, calculations, analyses, etc. in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, or other specifications. *
2. Conducts tests, gathers and analyzes information, helps interpret findings.  May require application of computer skills and knowledge of relevant software applications. *
3. Requires familiarity with technical terms or procedures basic to the function in order to communicate effectively with co-workers.
4. Requires basic oral, written and listening skills to gather, prepare, present and discuss findings and conclusions.
5. Create and maintain BOMs and routers following accepted standards and ensuring a high degree of accuracy.
6. Performs engineering calculations by calculator or computer to solve routine engineering problems.
7. Participate as a member of the product development team; interact with interdisciplinary teams in various projects.
8. Assists in the development of engineering drawings and specifications.
9. Assists the development of new labels templates

• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed 2D print specifications of components and assemblies for new products
• Analyze design for tolerance, assembly and manufacturability.
• Identify materials and required testing for product validation. Verify that all project requirements are met regarding design, quality, costs, and schedule.
• Works closely with Product Managers during product development effort for new products and product line improvements or additions.
• Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers to identify and specify manufacturing process
• Work closely with Purchasing during vendor selection
• Works closely with Regulatory and Production to optimize the labels management
• Assists in the design and fabrication of manufacturing process equipment and methods.
• Assists in the troubleshooting of systems and equipment and performs repairs under close supervision.
• Requisitions components and supplies for engineering projects, interacting with vendors
• Performs manufacturability studies on new product designs
• Works closely with Production to optimize and facilitate the labels printing for each batch.

Education Degree

Required Experience

This position requires an individual with:

1. Master’s degree in Engineering with one years of related engineering experience, OR
2. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with three years of related engineering experience, AND
3. Professional experience in the medical device field is a must
4. Italian mother tongue, fluent in English
