Project Manager - Construction

The Project Manager role is to provide management and support for construction, refurbishment and facility fit out of both new and existing Sterile Services facilities within STERIS IMS. Typically, the facilities are either fit out of an existing shell, which requires significant internal construction and installation of plant and processing equipment or, the refurbishment and fit out of an existing Sterile Services Department within an NHS hospital.

The Project Manager’s role will include:

The coordination and completion of projects on time and within budget and within scope

Coordination of internal resources and third parties/ vendors for project delivery

Manage the relationships for all stakeholders: STERIS, 3rd parties and suppliers/ contractors, and customers in NHS sites

Assist in the definition of the project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders

Ensure resource availability and allocation

Oversee all aspects of the projects to ensure that:

Deadlines are met

Assigned responsibilities are undertaken by the assignee

Monitor and report progress of the project against the developed and agreed project plan using appropriate tools and techniques

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Prepare project status update reports for management team

Highlight risk events and issues that adversely impact project programme and cost and escalate to management as needed

Perform risk management to minimise project risks

Develop and track budgets

Identify opportunities to improve the programme and reduce cost and escalate to management as needed

Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and costs using required verification and approval processes

The Project Manager requires the following experience:

Demonstrable, successful construction/ fit out project management with a minimum of 2-4 years’ experience

Demonstrable experience of working within a RIBA framework and current requirements for Building Regulations and CDM 2015

Experience of managing budgets for large construction projects

A strong knowledge of construction materials, processes and equipment

Excellent all-round communication skills, written and verbal, for both internal and external clients

Excellent organisational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, demonstrable experience of project management software, e.g. Microsoft Project, Smartsheet (latter used by STERIS IMS)

Project management qualification, Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE II certification is required

Knowledge or experience of working with the NHS or in the Medical Devices industries will be advantageous
