If so, Steris are looking for an Area Sales Manager to join their dedicated and successful UK Sales NHS department covering the Home Counties & East Anglia region. As the Area Sales Manager your role will be focussed on the promotion and selling of Steris’ company products, achieving and exceeding agreed objectives.  We are looking for proactive and tenacious individuals with the ability to sell to customers and within hospitals, preferably with experience within a field sales position.

Position Summary

As the Area Sales Manager you will be responsible for the promotion and selling of the Steris’ products through regular visits to all customers and hospitals, ensuring maximum profit on a continuing basis within the Home Counties and East Anglia region. You will initially determine and agree a Territory Sales Activity plan alongside the National Sales Manager to achieve and exceed the territory sales targets and objectives.


  • Collect information about competitors’ products and prices, reporting this into the Marketing Department
  • Maintain own stock of samples and sales literature, obtaining replenishments from Lancing when necessary and maintaining customer records and submit as required
  • Organise and set up exhibitions, meetings and study days on behalf of Steris
  • Follow up customer complaints immediately, completing required documentation
  • Investigate complaints regards delivery problems and identify the source of the issue
  • Develop efficient working relationships with peers, Sales Management and all related departments ensuring effective communication
  • Maintain cost-effective control over personal expenses and report details of other expenditure accurately and regularly
  • Undertake any other duties that may become necessary

Required Experience

  • Able to work independently and to own initiative

  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Hold a full clean driving license
  • Team player
  • Experience within an Operating Theatre setting (desirable)
  • Successful track record of field sales techniques
  • Field sales experience gained with capital equipment sales (desirable)
  • Computer literate- proficient in Microsoft package
