At Steris AST we are the trusted experts in technology-neutral sterilization services including radiation and gas modalities.
We offer electron beam, gamma, X-ray, ethylene oxide and vaporized hydrogen peroxide technologies for the purpose of product sterilization. Whether that product be a single use medical device, consumables in a hospital environment, cosmetics and toiletries, or industrial products, we make sure everything that makes its way to an end user is safe for use or consumption.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Team Leader, you are a key frontline leader, driving the success of a dynamic operations team within the processing site. You play a critical role in ensuring the precise handling and processing of customers' goods in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while actively contributing to daily departmental goals for safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Your responsibilities include collaborating closely with the Operations Manager to deliver daily production activities, while working alongside your team to achieve shared objectives. You will take a proactive role in mentoring, training, and developing team members, ensuring they are empowered to follow and enhance work instructions in line with site procedures. Your commitment to frontline safety and optimising plant uptime will directly impact customer satisfaction and the achievement of site targets.
In addition to your day-to-day leadership, you will play a vital role in the daily team meetings and facilitating smooth shift handovers, ensuring that the team is aligned and motivated. When the Operations Manager is absent, you will confidently step into their role, managing operations, conducting return-to-work interviews (RTW), effectively deploying tasks, and ensuring that products meet customer requirements while adhering to company quality and regulatory standards.
As a champion of continuous improvement, you will actively seek out opportunities to enhance processes, driving innovation and efficiency within your team. Your leadership will set the tone for a positive working environment that reflects the core values of STERIS AST and continuously improves Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) through lean principles.
You will be a proactive and integral part of the site team, providing strong support and contributing to the overall success of the operations.
Finally, you will take on all other tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and dedication to the success of the site.

• Report safety concerns and escalate to the appropriate safety representative.
• Support and sponsor the site usage of PPE
• Conduct and report safety checks regularly.
• Ensure all tasks are conducted with safety and environmental awareness.
• Continuously monitor the work area for safety, taking immediate corrective action when necessary.
• Lead and motivate the team whilst performing operator duties.
• Deputise for the Operations Manager when required.
• Assist with the deployment of training
• Provide consistent on-the-job feedback from your team.
• Act as a representative and be a constructive voice for your peers
• Act as a proactive leader within the team.
