Position Summary:

The Sales Support Representative reports to the Region Manager and partners, assists, supports and may lead the sales activities and responsibilities of the assigned Territory Sales Mangers.  These responsibilities include supporting Customer facing activities, primarily in post-order sales support including in-servicing, support of projects and maintenance of product delivery systems within an assigned region for the instrument cleaning chemistries (ICC) and sterility assurance (SAP) product families.


The Sales Support Representative also supports the after-sale process, including inventory of deliveries, post order submittal sign-off and in-servicing to ensure Customers have a thorough knowledge of the safe use of equipment.

What you will do:
  • Partner and support Territory Mangers in Customer facing sales activities in pre-sale, and post-sale activities including support of projects or conversions in the territory. 
  • Manage and execute the preventative maintenance of dosing pumps used in the reprocessing area to ensure they are working properly and as expected for customers.
  • Possess and keep current a deep working knowledge of STERIS products and services (clinical applications, functions, features, and benefits) and how to properly position them as viable Customer solutions. Understand and effectively present technical literature and how it applies to solving the Customer needs. Is knowledgeable about each account’s history, contacts, and current and long-term purchase plans for designated products.
  • Understand and effectively present technical literature and information of all products is able to reinforce information, change management, and awareness of products for reprocessing.
  • Provide exceptional Customer service by providing support with initial use of equipment/services including onsite support, startup, and maintenance throughout the product lifecycle with focus on instrument cleaning chemistries (ICC), and sterility assurance products (SAP).
  • Act as a liaison between Service and Sales during and after sale playing a strong support role in the pre-sale and after-sale process, including post order submittal, planning sheet sign off and in-servicing to ensure Customers have a thorough knowledge of the safe use of equipment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Customers in Biomed, SPD, Infection Prevention, Risk Management departments in IDN, and hospital systems.  Maintain ongoing relationships and communication with counterparts in Sales (Capital and Consumable) and Service Technicians as well as OR/Surgical Sales, Project Design Manager’s, Corporate and Strategic Accounts, and home office support teams.
  • Identify and recognize key business opportunities and trends to appropriate team member.  Observe and report competitor activity and tactics to management.  Provide Customer feedback to team members as appropriate as well as generating leads/prospects that can be worked and generate sales.
  • Update information in STERIS Customer Relationship Management database (CRM).  Record Customer feedback and complaint information through the proper quality processes and channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to be successful:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s degree/2-year technical degree or equivalent required.  Prefer to see current enrollment towards completion of Bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of successful sales, clinical or sterile processing environment experience, or hands on maintenance and repair experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work perform light equipment repair maintenance required.
  • Additional experience required is a track record of exceptional demonstrated customer service skills that lead to positive reputation for employee and STERIS
  • Ability and track record of heavy travel in assigned region.
  • Upon hire, successful completion of product specific training modules is required.
