Position Summary

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the management of all activities associated with the assigned global suppliers, commodities and or services. This position will provide full responsibility and leadership for assigned spend categories, developing strategies and coordinating on a global basis all related supply chain activity to assure that cost and value-added requirements are met. Additionally, this position will proactively monitor and evaluate specific market conditions communicating and in concert with the business unit and develop countermeasures as required.


  1. Works cross functionally to develop a strategic supply base to support business requirements.
  2. Prepares business cases, including ROI and TCO models, and effectively presents new programs to senior management. Continually identifies and implements new opportunities for cost savings and cost avoidance and proactively tracks progress toward these objectives. *
  3. Utilizes the Strategic Sourcing process, including “should cost modeling” methodologies.  Manages supplier selection process and ensures supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria.
  4. Leads in the development and execution of negotiation strategies with suppliers, including specific targets for Quality, Service levels and Pricing. Develops implementation and transition plans to ensure sourcing benefits are fully realized.*
  5. Develops and manages supplier scorecards to monitor supplier performance.
  6. Hold supplier quarterly business reviews as required.

  1. Works with Legal to establish and execute optimal contract terms and conditions with suppliers.*
  2. Conducts supplier rationalizations and segmentation initiatives, proactively reviewing supplier performance and establishing sourcing strategies.
  3. Develops global commodity strategies with defined plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigation and service level agreements.*
  4. Provides rigorous analysis of spend data and market trends and dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing initiatives within designated spend categories.
  5. Manages the UDI labeling requirements with the supply base.




Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  1. Bachelor's Degree in related field required; MBA preferred; CPM or CPIM certification preferred.
  2. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Purchasing/Sourcing, or other business experience requiring strong negotiating skills.
  3. Experience in all aspects of sourcing including contract negotiations, commodity-based materials management, project management and commercial analysis.
  4. Global commodity knowledge.
  5. Must have a clear vision with a representative track record of sourcing in an extended enterprise environment.
  6. Able to manage and motivate suppliers and key constituent groups. Proven track record in developing and executing strategic plans, influencing skills, managing complex projects and leading collaborative relationships, in a cross-functional team environment.
  7. International experience and low-cost country (LCC) sourcing is a plus.
  8. Competence with Microsoft Office software with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  9. Need to be able to travel around 5% - 10% of the time
  10. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, communication and global, cross-functional project management skills required
