Position Summary
Our dental segment, HuFriedyGroup, enables dental professionals to reduce risk, improve efficiencies, drive compliance, and enhance patient and staff safety. At HuFriedyGroup, we are committed to helping dental professionals perfect their craft and deliver the highest level of care to each patient. We are seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern at our Des Plaines Assembly & Distribution facility. This role will provide a foundation for applying theory from the classroom to hands-on practical application in an assembly & distribution environment. The Industrial Engineering Intern will have exposure to engineering and provide engineering support for existing and new processes within the facility. The role will also provide support to the Continuous Improvement Engineers and Leadership Team.
What You Will Do..
- Collect, analyze and report out statistical data related to productivity, performance, capabilities
- Provide suggestions and rationale to improve material storage and handling to increase throughput
- Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material and equipment
- Review error and rework to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts tied to safety, quality, delivery and cost
- Create process and value stream maps
What You Need To Be Successful...
- Must be a currently enrolled student, majoring in Industrial Engineering and having completed at least the junior year. Great opportunity for graduate students
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required
- Ability to fulfill a one quarter or semester internship commitment, 40 hours per week.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Display maturity and a high level of professionalism
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with variables
- Knowledge/proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Visio)
- Knowledge/proficiency with Solidworks
