Position Summary

As a User Experience Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the user experience for our next generation SaaS solutions. You will be part of an agile development team, providing UI/UX design and guidance for web, windows and mobile enterprise software. You will thrive in a highly collaborative environment, applying a variety of methodologies and techniques, working with Users, Software Developers, Product Managers and Quality Assurance Engineers to build revolutionary software solutions.

You will report to our Business Analysis Manager and will be primarily engaged with prototyping and validating design solutions made in collaboration with other team members. You will be an evangelist for user-centric design, with a passion for translating complex tasks into simple interactions, driving ease of use as one of our key competitive advantages.

Duties

  • Guide the visual and interactive evolution of the product across multiple platforms.
  • Translate complex ideas into elegant, intuitive designs
  • Ongoing, close collaboration with team members during the sprint including impromptu discussions and brainstorming actives as well as pairing with engineers & product managers on design.
  • Support the team as needed with wireframes, flow diagrams, rapid prototypes and visual design to help communicate and validate design ideas.
  • Support user research efforts, in collaboration with the team, to validate prototypes and conduct ongoing usability testing activities.
  • Be the voice and advocate of the customer, constantly sharing data and insights with the team to communicate customer needs and best practices.
  • Maintain a cohesive user experience via the consistent use of UI patterns.
  • Inspire teams beyond good usability to user delight by promoting beautiful, cutting-edge visual design.
  • Actively participate in the evolving UX team strategy, discovering and piloting new tools and resources that promote agile and lean methodologies.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong technical aptitude, product common sense, and curiosity combined with a genuine love for products, people, and user experience.
  • A cutting-edge portfolio of software design that demonstrates outstanding interaction design skills across multiple devices as well as a thorough understanding of graphic design, page layout and typography.
  • Well-versed in fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines and principles (wireframes, user flows, mock-ups, prototypes), with a keen sense of when to choose the right tool(s) to communicate the design.
  • Ability to visualize, own, and execute the creation of an experience from initial conception to collaborating with engineers on implementation.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator in particular).
  • Strong understanding of HTML/CSS, with direct experience optimizing design concepts around these technologies. Any knowledge of the Microsoft .NET Framework stack will be beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to deliver solid designs on a tight deadline.
  • Expert eye for detail and consistency; no detail is too small or insignificant.
  • Comfortable with an iterative design process that includes accepting and managing feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Highly developed organisation and time management skills with an adaptable and flexible approach to effectively manage changing demands and evolving priorities whilst being able to proactively identify new opportunities.
