We are currently looking for an Applications Engineer to join our Life Sciences VHP (Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide) Sales team! In this role, you will focus on promoting and selling VHP based solutions in an assigned region, working with the local sales/service teams, VHP Application team and Area Vice President. You will manage the assigned territory to achieve company sales objectives (orders, revenue and margin), by selling STERIS VHP equipment, consumables and services into pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, research and laboratory, medical device, food and beverage and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) that integrate VHP solutions. You will achieve success by building and maintaining positive Customer relationships through written/verbal correspondence, direct personal contact, managing time and travel priorities, and providing market feedback and territory based financial forecasts.  You will also perform targeted market development and promotion in the assigned region and develop relationships needed to successfully implement STERIS VHP equipment, consumables, and services.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare sales presentations, proposals, and quotations.
  • Handle commercial requests, technical inquiries and product related complaints. Work closely with STERIS Customer Operations, Applications Management and Field Service teams to ensure equipment, consumables and services are quoted, delivered, installed and demonstrated correctly and on schedule with no erosion of margin.
  • Coordinate and lead Customer seminars and events. Conduct classes and training seminars, educating the professional community and Customers by serving in a consultative and supportive role for VHP products both in person and via webinar.
  • Grow the STERIS business through Customer networking, trade shows and professional organizations and periodically organize and/or attend relevant trade shows and professional organization seminars (i.e. PDA, ISPE, AP3, etc.).
  • Provide strategic feedback to product marketing on new product launches based on Customer input.
  • Communicate Customer concerns, industry trends and competitive activity across STERIS business units and functions and keep current on competitive offerings and searches for creative ways to promote STERIS strengths
  • Assist marketing team with VOC activities for market and product development
  • Work with Integration Partners for Turnkey Solutions. Identify regional partners for turnkey solutions with VHP for approval by management team
  • Develop pricing and scope with approved partners. Evaluate partner performance on assigned jobs.
  • Adopt and provide input on new continuous improvement methods
  • Maintain required technical and professional proficiency through attendance at scheduled training sessions throughout STERIS’s global network of facilities and STERIS University online programs
  • Provide monthly reports on projects, product, industry trends and other reports as required by STERIS (expense, car mileage, safety, etc.)
  • Handle other duties and responsibilities as they are periodically assigned in compliance with the spirit and letter of laws, government regulations and company policies while demonstrating the highest standards of professional conduct
What You Need to be Successful:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, etc.).
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience, to include experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside “normal business hours” and travel as required. Travel is estimated at 50%.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
