Position Summary
The Associate Software Engineer is part of the R&D team and will be working on both Repair Capability, New Product Development, New and Emerging Technology Research, and Intellectual Property creation. The Associate Software Engineer will handle a wide range of embedded software projects from low layer (hardware interfacing) to higher level (UI interfacing) work. The Associate Software Engineer works with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate strategies and facilitate plans to make sure the technologies are inter-connected, and projects are delivered on time with quality.
What You'll do as an Associate Software Engineer
- Support the development of new product concepts and designs. Supports the delivery of prototypes and final products to specifications and project requirements.
- Develop and runs software validation & testing routines.
- Collaborate on the deconstructs code and algorithms to study, analyze, and learn details of designs, construction, and operation. Documents systems including testing and validation.
- Apply understanding of existing products and clinical applications to support the understanding of new product or process functionality.
- Ensure safety and regulatory standards are being followed with respect to design, application requirements and proper maintenance.
- Demonstrate skill for independent analysis and synthesis of solutions for problems, exhibiting creativity, foresight, innovation, and judgment in anticipating and solving these problems.
- Collaborate in cross-functional design and development discussions.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- 1 year related experience in programming, software application design and development for embedded products.
- Proficiency with the following Languages/Tools: C/C++, Source code control (Git, SVN, JIRA, etc.)
- Ability to debug code and improve the performance of existing programs.
- Understanding of embedded systems and architectures. Experience in embedded Linux.
- Basic understanding of electrical components and circuitry. Hardware/software bring-ups
- Familiar with all aspects of software development (requirements, design, implementation, test), software development life cycle (Agile, Waterfall), and structural design techniques.
The Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Familiar with: Qt framework
- Experience in motor control, camera system, image processing, computer vision
- Knowledge of medical device domain and FDA regulation (IEC62304 / IEC60601)
- Engineering knowledge crossing into multiple technical disciplines: software, hardware, mechanical, and system design.
- Ability to consistently apply complex analytical methods.
- Working knowledge of operating systems: Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android

Pay range for this opportunity is $60,000-75,000. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
