Molding Process Technician - 3rd Shift

Position Summary
The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for set-up, operation, as well as basic processing adjustments and control on plastic injection mold machines and auxiliary equipment. Duties include tool changeovers for horizontal and vertical injection molding machines in a safe, effective, and compliant manner, process evaluations and adjustments as necessary, and quality inspections of start-up and interval production parts. The position is expected to maintain control of validated processes in accordance with engineering validation guidelines, using appropriate procedures and standard work. This position is expected to have a mastery of mold setting and associated auxiliary equipment, with an introductory knowledge of scientific injection molding principles. The position will have critical involvement in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities, including production scheduling, scrap reduction efforts, and optimization of molding process flow. The position will be required to perform basic tool and machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 PM - 6:00 AM
What You'll do as a Mold Process Technician
- Set Injection Molding tools and auxiliary equipment per appropriate procedures, with no oversight.
- Perform start-up and interval quality inspections of molded components using basic and intermediate inspection equipment.
- Ensures processes remain in control for quality and key process input parameters. Utilizes knowledge of scientific injection molding to make informed decisions regarding process adjustments.
- Verifies paperwork for jobs and completion of inspections at the startup of the job and in-process inspections.
- Assists in the training in Mold Setting, material handling, and molded component quality inspections.
- Ensures processes remain in control for quality and key process input parameters.
- Assists with mold room production schedule board planning and execution, and helps to strategically set workorder priorities.
- Basic ability to identify tooling and machine anomalies, with the ability to help troubleshoot and solve basic identified issues.
- Ability to perform basic machine preventative maintenance per a maintenance plan/workorder and associated standard work.
- Follows the company’s medical manufacturing quality system per ISO 13485 and FDA guidelines to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Adheres to company safety policies as well as OSHA rules and regulations.
- Must operate an overhead crane on a regular basis.
- Helps attain scheduling targets and communicates possible issues and deviations appropriately.
- Monitors and focuses on scrap reduction.
- Integrate the company’s continuous improvement activities, including idea submissions, safety observations, 5S, adherence to standard work, and data tracking/charting.
- Perform packing and general inspection duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet the objectives of the facility.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years of Mold Setting Experience.
- 3 years of experience with molded component inspections using basic inspection equipment.
- 2 years of blueprint reading experience.
- 2 years of Experience with equipment maintenance for molding machines, auxiliary, and automated equipment.
- RJG certifications are desired.
- Understanding of Lean concepts and the ability to demonstrate incremental improvements within the job scope.
Preferred:
- Technical Degree preferred.

- Communication: Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions and safety rules. Effectively share information between all shifts with co-workers, internal customers, and support personnel.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with problems involving part and equipment variation while maintaining quality expectations.
- Computer Skills: Ability to record data and communicate electronically; demonstrates basic computer skills.
- Mathematical Skills: Good mental math skills required.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Competencies with hand tools, as well as a basic understanding of electricity and hydraulics, are required.
- Attendance: Able to maintain good attendance and is available for support on Saturdays and beyond normal working hours.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well with people and demonstrate good leadership and approachability.

Pay range for this opportunity is $22.68 - $29.35. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
