Position Summary

 

The Molding Engineering Manager directs the work of design and development Injection Molding Engineers in a value stream. The Engineering Manager sets engineering milestones and ensures that user needs and requirements are gathered and fully understood. Responsible for making sure that design reviews are conducted and that the output is documented. Ensures feasibility testing is conducted to show that the product will meet product requirements and engineering specifications. Works within a defined schedule to identify action items and engineering milestones to keep projects on track. The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to executing, directing and managing the work of Injection Molding Engineers and Injection Molding Technical Resources.

What you’ll do as a Molding Engineering Manager:

 

  • Direct the work of Injection Molding Engineers, and Injection Molding Technicians within their team.
  • Facilitate communication and interaction among core team members to ensure transparency of critical deliverables and milestones.
  • Ensure technical plans are developed and executed within expectations of project deliverables. 
  • Actively contribute to projects in development by completing engineering tasks and having engineering responsibilities such as documentation and design activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement ideas to better the department. Also work with direct reports on training and development plans. 
  • Identify opportunities related to strategy and scope within product family portfolio.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all Quality Systems requirements.
  • Fully adhere to all applicable FDA regulations, international guidelines and company policies at all times.
  • Establish and promote a work environment amongst co-workers and direct reports that supports compliance with the Quality System and company policy.
  • Drive culture of High-Performance teams in the department through strategic initiatives (functional competencies, performance management, talent management, process improvements).
  • Implement and support standard, 2-shot molding processed and supporting ancillary equipment.
  • Utilize knowledge of robotic picking equipment and precision in-press measurement equipment and multi-resin process validation knowledge utilizing industry advanced leading processing techniques (scientific molding processes).

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:

 

Required: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in Plastics Processing environment
  • 2 years’ experience in Management or departmental management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of plastic processing, manufacturing equipment, automation robotics and auxiliary equipment.

 

Preferred: 

 

  • Understanding of Six Sigma concepts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in LEAN Methodologies.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO or FDA international standards organization, preferred.
