As an Azure Cloud Architect at STERIS you will join the Cloud Infrastructure and Operations to play a crucial role in enhancing our healthcare solutions through advanced cloud technologies. This is role is considered Hybrid, with the requirement of working onsite at our Mentor, OH Headquarters 3 days per week.

What will you do as an Azure Cloud Architect?

As an Azure Cloud Architect, you will leverage your expertise, knowledge and experience to develop modern and new solutions in a multi-cloud environment. To accomplish this, you work on, participate in, and be responsible for the following: 

 

Architecture, Design, Develop and Configure Systems – 75%

  • Develop, design, configure, and implement highly complex I.T. technology solutions.

  • Champion a “Cloud first” methodology, such as Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS).

  • Microsoft Azure will be a crucial component for this role. 

  • Create functional specifications and design proposals. Including diagrams and architectural documents.

  • Participate in the design of Cloud-based infrastructure solutions working alongside Cloud Architects and service domains (e.g., Web, Database, Storage, Networking, IAM)

  • Lead the I.T. infrastructure activities for major business projects.

  • Integrate technology solutions across disparate I.T. platforms and business segments.

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend software, hardware, and cloud technologies.

  • Perform testing and evaluation, including development lab activities for new technology solutions.

  • Interface with software vendors and internal accounting department to facilitate the purchase of hardware and software.

  • Stay well-informed of the technology trends and developments in the I.T. industry.

  • Participate in the development of I.T. strategy and direction.

  • Make presentations and proposals to senior I.T. management on projects, designs and initiatives.

Project Leadership and Management – 20%

  • Develop and maintains IT strategy and ensure they align consistently with the STERIS plan.

  • Serve as the project lead on highly complex technical projects based on the business plan.

  • Research and analyze project requirements, create and submit proposals, and implement approved project plans.

  • Develop and submit budget proposals and funding requests.

 

Technical Support, System Administration and Maintenance – 5%

  • Provide technical support to I.T. systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve very complex problems with system configurations and hardware.

  • Provide escalation support for all other architects and system administrators.

What Skills, Abilities, and Experience is needed?

  • Four-year degree in Information Technology or similar field. 
  • 10+ years full time experience required.:

  • Microsoft Azure Certification highly preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in:

    • Leading major infrastructure projects.

    • Participating in the development of technology strategy.

    • Creating, developing, and implementing technology solutions.

    • Vendor management including license agreements, hardware procurement, software procurement.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Cloud Administration using Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions.

  • Expert system and application administration with Microsoft technologies. (Windows Server, AD, PowerShell, Remote Access Technologies)

  • Advanced technical proficiency with VMware ESX. Storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and related protocols. 

  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, instruct, monitor, and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
