Position Summary

The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for the management of all activities associated with the assigned global suppliers, commodities, and or services. This position will provide full responsibility and leadership for assigned spend categories, developing strategies and coordinating on a global basis all related supply chain activities to assure that cost and value-added requirements are met. Additionally, this position will proactively monitor and evaluate specific market conditions by communicating and in concert with the business unit and develop countermeasures as required. The Senior level of the role will be able to assume the full accountabilities with less support and more ownership than a more junior level and will have approval authority that is not afforded to other levels of the role.

Duties

1.    Identify and execute supplier-focused savings projects as input to achieving the overall HuFriedyGroup cost savings goal and continuously identify new savings opportunities to maintain a project funnel.*
2.    Assume project management roles for large-scale complex sourcing projects.
3.    Utilizes the Strategic Sourcing process, including the RFI/RFx process on a global basis. Manages supplier selection process and ensures supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria.
4.    Leads in the development and execution of negotiation strategies with suppliers, including specific targets for Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory. Develops implementation and transition plans to ensure sourcing benefits are fully realized.*
5.    Mitigates cost increase proposals from suppliers to maintain product margins and communicates impacts to key business stakeholders. Has approval authority for cost increase acceptance.
6.    Conducts supplier rationalizations and segmentation initiatives, proactively reviewing supplier performance and establishing global commodity strategies, preferred supplier program, and quarterly business reviews while collaborating with key stakeholders in the business.*
7.    Coordinates and leads business reviews with strategic suppliers and executive stakeholders.
8.    Provides rigorous analysis of spend data and market trends and dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing initiatives within designated spend categories. 
9.    Plans and manages the supplier transition process to the tactical Purchasing Group after release
10.    Lead collaboration of key business stakeholders, legal, and suppliers to negotiate and submit supply and stocking agreements to be executed.
11.    Maintain SAP data including but not limited to vendor master, source list, purchase info records, and blanket orders.

Education Degree

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

1.    Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or an equivalent field.
2.    Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in sourcing or related field in a manufacturing environment.
3.    Able to manage and motivate suppliers and key constituent groups. Proven track record in developing and executing strategic plans, influencing skills, managing complex projects, and leading collaborative relationships, in a cross-functional team environment.
4.    Strong analytical skills with the ability to quantify/evaluate manufacturing processes and technologies to ensure “best cost” solutions for purchased components and new product cost parameters
5.    Proficiency in MS Office, intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel preferred
6.    High standards of integrity required
7.    High energy level and strong self-motivation required
8.    Proficiency in ERP systems, SAP experience preferred
9.    Experience operating in a controlled quality system, ISO13485 preferred
10.    Experience in supply chain management in a regulated industry desired, Medical Device Industry preferred
11.    Highly analytical with the ability to present data in an actionable format
12.    Planning and organizational skills with an ability to handle a multitude of projects required, 
13.    Professional designations or certifications in project management are preferred
14.    Professional designations or certifications by SAVE International is preferred
15.    Trained in the use of DFMA  software or equivalent is preferred.
16.    Excellent communication skills (oral, writing and reading).
