Position Summary

The Repairs Technician evaluates, tests, and repairs electronic devices and Ultrasonic Inserts within the Repairs Cell. This individual provides support to the Service and Repair department, Engineering, Product Management, and Sales in product development, device evaluation, demo stock refurbishment, and other areas as needed.

 

This is an onsite role at our Chicago, IL location. 

Duties

  1. Receive, unbox, disinfect, sterilize, and test equipment, components, and spare parts for functionality
  2. Perform evaluation and failure analysis on returned Ultrasonic Insert, co-branded and branded equipment, components, and spare parts. Determine needs for component replacement and appropriate repair methods, if applicable. Repair devices to functional condition as needed.  Share learnings of troubleshooting with Customer and Service and Repair staff members.
  3. Communicate with Service and Repair and Customer Care Representatives on all returned co-branded and branded equipment.
  4. Record results of evaluation, repair details including parts replaced and reason for failure within Salesforce.com and SAP Service module for all field return units and complete Electronic Device Service Ticket

  1. Identify and confirm the failure and propose the necessary replacement of defective parts.
  2. Open quality complaints when necessary
  3. Comply with the company’s quality requirement for device repairs
  4. Monitor stock levels of replaceable spare parts within Repairs cell.  Refurbish Loaner/Demo units, Conventions units, and RAM showcase units, as needed.
  5. Provide feedback to Engineering regarding potential design or component flaws based upon failure analysis in order to contribute to continuous improvement efforts and product quality enhancement

Required Experience

  1. High school Diploma or GED.
  2. 3 years' experience in a technical position, certificate in electronics or equivalent experience.
  3. Computer skills: Microsoft Office Proficient
  4. Electical skills, at least 3 of the following: Basic soldering skills, use of voltmeter, oscilloscope, digital multimeter, HIPOT & ground continuity tester. Supplier or in-house certification for repaid of devices.
  5. Mechanical skills: Proper use of measurement instruments including calliper and micrometer, temperature data logging, strongly preferred.
  6. SAP experience strongly preferred.
