Oversees the management and facilitates production, projects, and quality within Customer IPS engagements. Ensures Customer’s expectations are met by managing activities and complying with contractual obligations.  Provides on-site support, training and communication to contracted facilities sterile processing department management and personnel.  Ensures SPD compliance with the Department of Health, JC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards and facility policies and procedures.

What you'll do as a Manager II, Sterile Processing

  

People Management (40%)

  • Provides supervision and leadership of Sterile Processing Department at assigned facility and shift.
  • Manages workflow and maintains staffing work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to ensure on time delivery to Customer.
  • Meets with direct reports monthly to provide feedback, hold employee accountable to performance, development, and expectations to ensure quality service.
  •  Responsible for partnering with leader to address and resolve employee concerns timely and drive employee engagement activities.
  •  In collaboration with the manager, supports the scheduling for new STERIS employee orientation, on-the-job training, in-service education, and quality assurance programs when needed.
  •  Participates in interviews, hiring, training, and coaching of Customer employees as required by the contract.

Operations Management (50%)

  • Oversees and supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the proper processing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and storage processes within all set professional standards and regulations.
  • Performs Sterile Processing Technician responsibilities as needed to ensure on time delivery to Customer.
  • Follows chain of command within hospital and/or STERIS regarding identified problems or issues to ensure proper communication and resolution. Responsible for answering and responding to calls from the Customer and other end-users, during and after regular business hours as required by the contract.
  • Assists manager in review of all required documentation related to STERIS Standard Operating Procedures and ensures staff’s adherence to applicable policies and procedures.

OPERATIONS/PROCESSES

• Demonstrates complete understanding of the STERIS standard processes and possesses the ability to implement and hold the team accountable through leadership routines

• Ensures proper operational processes are followed by all members of the STERIS IMS team in conjunction with the Department of Health JC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORN standards and facilities goals and policies

• Ensures accuracy and completeness of all administrative documents and functions (time records, count sheets, inventories, billing, etc.) required by the Customer and STERIS

• Manages an operating budget for STERIS and understands that all decisions can have a financial impact and manages within the budget

• Uses STERIS playbook and related tools to identify areas of deficiencies and creates Corrective Action Plans to manage improvement

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of leadership experience in SPD or related field or High School diploma with 8+years of SPD experience with 5 years of leadership role in SPD or related field
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (4+ Years)
  • Must have experience in process management and quality control (3+ Year)
  • Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or HSPA required. If not certified at point of hire, it must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and be available to operate a vehicle as needed to meet travel requirements.
  • Must be able to travel across the US and pass the Customer’s background and medical standards for credentialing purposes.

Preferred Experience

  • Instrument tracking software and employee management system experience (1+ Years)
  • Medical instrument knowledge (1+ Years)
  • Knowledge of Sterile Processing, Operating Room and Material Management functions a plus (1+ Years)
  • Experience with tracking and using KPI data to manage SPD department
