Position Summary

As a Senior Human Resources Manager (SHRM), you will support Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST) East and Central Zones. The zones encompass up to nine facilities located in the northeast and central states. You’ll provide HR leadership in both union and non-union facilities to a client team that includes operations leaders, plant associates, operations support and engineering and technical professionals. Our operating range from 40 to 150 employees in size. This is a home based position, but expectation is that you will work as needed from the nearest facility, with target locations of Central or Northern New Jersey or the Northborough, MA area.  Domestic travel is approximately 30% of the time, primarily within the zones.

Duties
  • Manages labor relations at two unionized facilities, being the focal point for collective bargaining preparation and execution and building a constructive union/management relationship.  Uses positive employee relations to maintain union-free status among home-based, professional technician organization.  Strong ability to balance dual role of employee advocate and business-centered partner is a priority. 
  • Partners with business leaders to drive the business’ strategic talent, attraction and retention, employee relations and compensation processes, ensuring they are executed to plan and aligned to employee engagement objectives. Demonstrate exceptional coaching/counseling skills. Uses consultative style and approach to develop credible relationships with business partners; proven track record of success working with senior leaders.
  • Manages two direct reports to deliver the full range of employee relations services.  Collaborates with other departments to ensure leave management, payroll, relocations and other corporate processes are delivered in an accurate, efficient and employee-centered manner.
  • Partners with central recruiting team to drive continuous improvement in recruiting processes and among the skill-sets of our hiring leaders.
  • Leads the Talent Assessment (succession and individual development planning) function for the zones, including driving the execution of action plans.
  • Consult/coach managers as they handle performance issues and talent development needs.  Directly handle ER issues, conduct investigations and recommend solutions. 
  • Is a catalyst for change, championing, along with business leaders, our diverse range of improvement initiatives in both business and HR-based processes. Examples include Lean operations, performance management, talent development, and employee engagement.  Leads the human resources process for acquisition due diligence and integration, and as required, following our established standard work.
  • Has a passion for talent development including performance management, succession planning and workforce planning, along with having the ability to readily flex between strategic and tactical processes.
Education Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Psychology
Required Experience


•    BA required in Industrial/Labor Relations, HR Management, Psychology, or related field 
•    10+ years progressive experience working as a HR Business Partner. Experience in talent management, recruiting and employee relations in a corporate environment; 3-5 years of management experience preferred. 
•    Demonstrated experience with the core aspects of Human Resource Management- talent acquisition; employee relations; performance management; leadership development; compensation, training. 
•    Thinks strategically and translates concepts into actionable items.
•    Demonstrates critical thought process and systems thinking analysis/ problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.
•    Proven ability to effectively lead through change initiatives. 
•    Previous talent management and succession planning experience.
•    Must possess executive presence, ability to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
•    Works comfortably in ambiguous business situations.
•    Experienced in developing solutions based upon facts/data analytics.
•    Understanding of employment law and diversity/EEOC compliance.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills; easily presents their point of view in varied business situations.
•    Strong PC skills with MS Office, HRIS systems.
