Position Summary

Part Time (Weekends) Driver

As a Driver at STERIS you will be involved in working in a fast-paced environment, where quality and precision and care is vital. Ensuring that our customers and clients receive instruments on time. 




Shall ensure vehicles are driven in line with all current applicable legislation, company policies and procedures. 

Shall ensure daily Health and Safety vehicle inspections are carried out to ensure the vehicle is in a road worthy condition and replenish with fuel, oil, air and water as necessary, including the completion of appropriate records. To check brake fluid and anti-freeze monthly and to log and report any defects and accidents to the line Manager.   

To report all traffic accidents involving any company vehicle to the company insurer immediately in accordance with their requirements in addition to notifying line manager. 

To ensure that vehicles are only used on authorised journeys.  

To be responsible for the safe carriage of goods to comply with the basic rules of the Transport Act 1968.  

Undertake weekly inspection of vehicles for damage and cleanliness inside and out. 

Maintain effective control of vehicle mileage logs and petrol cards and submit the mileage records to the Administration Staff on a weekly basis. 

Shall ensure a vehicle assessment is undertaken to enable driving of the company vehicles and tailgate vehicles. 

Shall ensure all delivery schedules are met in accordance with the daily requirements of the service. 

To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required. 


Required Experience


Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities. 

Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act. 

Must hold an up to date full clean UK driving licence. 

Previous experience of transportation and supplies in small to medium size processing operation. 


NVQ Level 2  

Previous experience in Sterile Services would be an advantage.
