Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor position is a hands-on position that will lead our Facilities team and assure all assets and daily operations in the facility are OSHA compliant, well maintained, and running efficiently at design-rated capacity. The successful candidate will be willing to participate on all shifts when needed and repair equipment as is necessary to support the Facilities team. $2500.00 Sign on bonus!

This individual will guide day-to-day maintenance operations in a 24/7 healthcare, ORC (offsite re-processing center) and clean-room environment. He or she will guide local maintenance technicians, coordinate all projects with Facilities and Operations teams, and direct all shift maintenance personnel activities. This individual will ensure all maintenance activities are completed, and maximum operational potential is realized for the entire operation. As part of a team, properly maintain and repair equipment including but not limited to; washers, sterilizers. ultrasonic & drying cabinets. Operate in a fast-paced, high production work environment while prioritizing multiple mechanical/electrical/plumbing and administrative tasks. Supervisors will be able to train technicians on technical and administrative skills. They will also be the primary escalation point to ensure issues are resolved quickly and planned work is completed within established timelines for Facilities Maintenance and Facilities Management requirements.

This "hands-on" position requires extensive knowledge in building systems, coupled with strong analytical and communication skills. Ensures compliance with established STERIS policies and procedures and aids in the development of new processes. May include service or repair work on washers, sterilizers. ultrasonic & drying cabinets plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, motors, pumps, electrical systems, lighting, flooring, window coverings, walls, PLC, and other systems. Vast experience maintaining high-pressure steam boilers, HVAC systems, RO/DI units, and Electrical systems desired


  1. Ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1910 OSHA General Industrial Safety Standards and 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Standards for facilities services staff and supervised contracted service personnel.
  2. Supervise, train, evaluate, and maintain records of maintenance team members on all technical disciplines needed to be successful as a technician at the ORC.
  3. Oversee/perform the preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance program for STERIS Offsite Reprocessing Center, including administrative tasks necessary to meet quality and regulatory requirements. 
  4. Conduct daily running inspections of all facility areas and equipment to ensure the safety of our people, equipment, and facility.
  5. Troubleshoot, analyze, evaluate, and determine the cause of equipment (washers, sterilizers. ultrasonic & drying cabinets) failures within the ORC. Repair or coordinate repairs with a qualified contractor without guidance. Schedule outages and repair windows with Operations leadership coordination.
  6. Develop, implement, and review Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for compliance with STERIS guidelines. Provide input to creating Standard Operating Procedures required to ensure consistency and conformance with all regulations and industry best practices. Maintains on-site operating and training manuals for Facilities department.
  7. Seek and implement continuous improvement opportunities utilizing lean methodologies.
  8. Manage performance process for the facility staff, appraise employee performance, and offer recommendations for wage review and/or change in employee status.
  9. Coordinate, schedule, prioritize, and assign maintenance team and service contractor work schedule.
  10. Communicate with and manage outside agencies e.g., contractors, equipment suppliers, and technical consultants.

  1. Be available during production, and be willing and able to perform scheduled repairs and maintenance during production downtime, which is often on the weekends.
  2. Requisition parts, tools, supplies, and services required for Facility operations and report monthly spending to plan to Manager.
  3. 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) Facilities department-related space and implements programs and systems required to ensure plant cleanliness.
  4. Maintain OSHA, city, county, state, and federal regulations of all systems in the facility.
  5. Assists with planning, implementing, and overseeing plant improvement projects.
  6. Travel to other STERIS locations as necessary to support operations or attend training.
  7. Complete all other functions and tasks as may be assigned by Manager.

Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. 5 + years' experience within industrial maintenance or facilities related position, basic plumbing, carpentry, HVAC system, motors, pumps, electrical systems, lighting, Steam - boilers 
  2. 3+ years in a supervisory or lead position
  3. Must maintain knowledge of technical, building operations, basic mechanical systems and facilities management best practices
  4. Understanding of basic accounting and finance principles
  5. Able to read and understand blueprints, electrical, mechanical, and automation systems
  6. Ability to read and interpret regulatory and safety guidelines applicable to the medical industry and industry in general.
  7. Have a valid Drivers License
  8. Competent user of computer programs, including email, project management or maintenance software, and spreadsheets
  9. Ability to operate forklift, aerial lift, and other powered lift systems
  10. 2+ years healthcare/cleanroom or manufacturing environment experience
  11. 1+ years eMaint CMMS experience
