Position Summary

Manages laboratory operations including Customer communications, sample receiving, scheduling, testing, analysis, review and approval of data and final reports, trending of timeliness and accuracy of processing to ensure Customer satisfaction. Manages personnel, presents informational seminars and training to internal and external audiences and represents the Laboratory in Customer and Regulatory audits and tours.

  1. Manages and develops laboratory processes for optimization and system design to ensure quality control and efficient sample processing.
  2. Manages Supervisors to plan and schedule laboratory testing to ensure optimal turnaround time and Customer satisfaction.
  3. Manages Supervisors to plan and monitor laboratory activities.
  4. Provides scientific expertise in directing  the technical operation of the department 
  5. Manages communications to Customers. Provides technical expertise to internal and external Customers.
  6. Manages the development of laboratory validations. Interfaces with auditors for technical and Laboratory process inquiries.
  7. Ensures cross-functional collaborations with other departments, sterilization sites, Tech Centers, and Sales to ensure addition of new Customers and successful implementation of integrated projects.
  8. Assesses work flow patterns and implements methods to ensure efficient and effective use of equipment and facility space.
  9. Manages requests for new or improved equipment, furniture, fixture, or facility updates to improve quality, efficiency, or cost.
  10. Ensures laboratory inventory management and control to ensure material availability for continuation of services.
  11. Reviews procedures, new equipment operational instructions, employee skill set development, etc. to ensure preparedness for test initiation or continuation of testing.
  12. Monitors, evaluates and forecasts department growth and make recommendations with specific justifications for additional resources (equipment, space, furniture, environment, and staff) to corporate management and submits requests for additional staffing resources to Plant management through approved process.

Education Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology
Required Experience
  1. Minimum 8 years in the medical device industry.
  2. Minimum 4 years of supervision experience.
  3. Ability to run dilution schemes to solve for population testing.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to supervise operations and personnel.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  7. Ability to work with a high degree of independence.
  8. Demonstrated high level decision-making capabilities
  9. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
  10. Ability to use a PC and standard software programs.
  11. Minimum intermediate proficiency with MS Office software.
  12. Must be organized and able to multi-task.
  13. Must have an understanding of microbes common characteristics and relevance in the testing process.
  14. Must have understanding of standard aseptic techniques and common laboratory equipment use.
