Position Summary

The DET Laboratory Technician executes assigned microbiological or chemistry testing in accordance with regulated laboratory testing techniques, approved procedures and Customer specifications.

Exciting opportunity for Biology / Microbiology grads with 2 + years’ experience in a Lab post-graduation!

         Location: Brooklyn Park, MN –  Hwys 610 and 169

                         Beautiful, spacious facility with high ceilings and lots of windows

         Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm


  • Executes Microbiological Disinfection Laboratory tests in compliance with regulations and procedures, utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Records and maintains appropriate data including statistical calculations.
  • Creates/ edits Customer specific protocols for approval.
  • Reads, interprets and records results of testing.
  • Participates in test result investigations for root cause and reports findings.
  • Participates in the research, development, and review of methods and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reviews data and reports for quality and accuracy.
  • Creates customer quotes, biological assessments, and bid proposals.
  • BA/BS in Biology or Microbiology plus 2 years’ experience in a Laboratory
  • Skilled at microbiological methods including pour plating, serial dilutions, filtration, use dilution following disinfection principals. 
  • Mad math skills

Education Degree

  • Associate's Degree

Required Experience

  • In lieu of degree a minumum of 4 years experience in a Laboratory with high schoool diploma or equivalent
  •  With degree a minimum of 1 year experience in a Laboratory.
  • Knowledge of microbes such as bacteria, mold and yeast; or knowledge of chemical assays and equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard aseptic techniques and/or common laboratory equipment use
  • Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals and dilution schemes.
  • Ability to perform technical document preparation.
  • Minimum Intermediate level on Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform technical document preparation
