Position Summary

In this individual contributor role, the HR Manager will support 3 of our laboratories within the Applied Sterilization Technologies business at STERIS.  This is an onsite role at our primary site in Brooklyn Park, MN and will support two other labs in Libertyville, IL, and EL Paso, TX with approximately 150 employees that are highly skilled lab technicians, scientists, and their leadership teams.

The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing the human resource actives for the site including employee relations, benefits, payroll, performance reviews, and recruitment. The role is instrumental in partnering with the Site Director and other leadership to drive the strategic vision of the business as it aligns with corporate HR Initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with business and/or functional leaders in areas such as organizational assessment, organizational structure, workforce planning, and change management to strengthen overall organizational capability.
  • Ensure alignment of HR processes ( i.e. performance management, compensation, leadership and employee development, etc.) with business operating goals. Leads the Talent Assessment (succession and individual development planning) function for the business segment, including driving the execution of action plans and ensures leaders and employees use available tools to have meaningful performance alignment, results attainment and feedback discussions.
  • Partner with managers in assessing and identifying resources to meet employee/departmental training needs and encouragement of employees to continuously develop their skills in their field of work.
  • Assist in the hiring of new employees by performing various recruiting activities in partnership with the talent acquisition team, including staffing coordination and job requisition management.
  • Counsel and/or coach employees and managers regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution, discipline and/or terminations.
  • Drive employee engagement and satisfaction through promotion of a positive company culture while balancing employee concerns with all levels of company goals.

 

What You Will Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 5-7 years progressive HR experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment (union and/or non-union).
  • 3+ years demonstrated experience in dealing with E.E.O.C., OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, O.F.C.C.P., and related regulatory groups
  • 3+ years experience in maintaining union-free status.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English.
  • Requires ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
  • Effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
  • Requires computer literacy to include word processing, spreadsheet and software capabilities.
  • Above average organizing, analyzing and a minimum of Level 3 math skills (ratios, proportions basic algebra) to determine organizational Customer and regulatory problems to formulate corrective action plans.
  • Ability to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to influence people in the opinions, attitude or judgments; to generalize, evaluate and make decisions in stressful situations.
  • Requires normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.
