Position Summary

Under the supervision of the R&D manager, the software engineer participates in the design and the development of control applications for sonic washers/irrigator and disinfectors. He is responsible for the architectural design of reliable software solutions. He applies rigorous documentation requirements following established medical device standards.

Duties

  1. Responsible to design and develop software solutions for medical devices and/or medical IT applications on a variety of platforms.
  2. Analyze product/system-level requirements and translates them into software specifications. Determine technical feasibility of new product features.
  3. Designs, implements, tests, and debugs applications according to corporate and departmental standards and procedures on new and sustaining engineering projects.
  4. Creates software development process documentation including requirements, design, interface specifications, verification documentation, software plans and reports.
  5. Leads the software development efforts for a project. May act as a leader to junior engineers although not directly responsible for their management.  
  6. Works independently on routine and semi-routine activities.  Receives guidance on unusual/complex issues and approval on plans and larger-scale designs.

Collaborates with groups outside of direct responsibilities including other engineering groups, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, etc. for project planning, analysis of product requirements and design reviews to outline proposed solutions.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  1. Requires 5+ years of related engineering experience.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering, computer science, software or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  3. Experience with software code analysis, task effort estimation, and execution to plan.
  4. Experience performing software requirement analysis and definition.
  5. Practical experience in C/C++, C# and Javascript, object-oriented analysis and design, and multi-threaded/multi-tasking programming, or practical experience in PLC programming.
  6. Experience in User Interface (UI)/Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, which may include HMI touch screens or Graphical UIs.
  7. Software quality assurance to include unit and integration test development and execution, and code inspection and reviews.
  8. Experience using software integrated development environments (IDEs) and tools to include configuration management (version control), defect management and code analysis tools.
  9. Experience in performing Cybersecurity analysis and documentation.

Preferred Experience

  1. Advanced degree
  2. Proven skills in working with stakeholders to refine product requirements to be realized in software.
  3. Experience in the implementation of infrastructure and applications for Manufacturing, Installation, and Serviceability.
  4. Understanding of development for a resource-constrained target environment with specific performance requirements.
  5. Understanding of usability / human factors is desired.
  6. Experience with medical device development and/or experience in working in a regulated industry that requires formalized software development processes and software risk management.       
  7. Desirable skills in following specific areas: .Net Framework, WPF, MSTEST, Azure Dev Ops Pipelines, PIC32 Microcontrollers, GIT, SVN, NodeJs, AngularJs, VueJs, MondoDB, SQL
