Position Summary

Manage and facilitate daily production and quality within contracted facility; meet the customer’s expectations by managing activities and complying with contractual obligations.  Provide support, training and communication to SPD management and personnel.  Perform duties related to training and education for Clinical Operation’s Managers, including; coaching, mentoring, and administrative organization. Participate in outsourcing implementations as directed. Ensure SPD compliance with the Department of Health, JCAHO, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards and facility policies and procedures. 




  • Demonstrates complete understanding of central sterile processing management and minimally invasive surgery processes and the ability to manage, train and implement in a contracted facility.
  • Enforces the implementation of IMS Standard Operating Procedures, new processes and/or procedures, product conversions, new services and programs in conjunction with the contract and IMS to improve efficiencies.
  • Implements an efficient means of communicating with contracted facility, IMS employees, and IMS management to ensure quality. Conducts weekly meetings with contracted facility management to provide timely updates of project objectives and barriers.  Conducts monthly meetings with IMS employees or more often as needed. 
  • Collaborates with IMS resources as necessary to provide additional or targeted training (i.e., DSPW and IMS Business Center). Travels when necessary to complete this task.
  • Participates in and uses evidence-based research for improving training and development for all Clinical Operations Managers.
  • Interviews, hires, and assists with training; coaches and disciplines employees to meet company objectives and customer requirements. Directly manages personnel of contracted facility if outsourced.
  • Provides daily updates to DSPW and submits to IMS Corporate as directed. 
  • Reviews/updates the project plan weekly to ensure target dates are met and barriers identified.
  • Abides by all IMS and contracted facility safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Maintains professional relationships with all contracted facilities departments as necessary and within contractual guidelines to ensure effective, efficient support to the patient caregivers as it relates to the scope of the contract.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the facility contract and the project plan. 
  • Mentors, educates, and assists in training of management staff in all aspects of contracted services. Conducts employee assessments to obtain baseline knowledge level to identify opportunities for education/training and improving SPD processes.
  • Operates facility within budget as specified in contract and initial performance statements; maintains systems for the preservation of IMS and customer resources such as surgical instrumentation.
  • Resolves IMS and customer issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Tracks contracted facility productivity and provides statistical reports to IMS and customer as necessary.
  • Ensures proper operational processes are followed by all members of the IMS team in conjunction with the Department of Health JCAHO, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, AORN standards and facilities goals and policies.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of all administrative documents and functions (time records, count sheets, inventories, billing, etc.) required by the contracted facility and IMS Corporate.
  • Ensures proper training of IMS employees.  Ensures that monthly in-service programs are being conducted and documented.
  • Ensures appropriate IMS coverage at the facility.
  • Models behavior that is appropriate for affiliation with each facility and IMS.

Required Experience

  • Required Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations or field service organizations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Supervision and coordination of SPD team including coordinators and technicians at the assigned facilities. Supervisory responsibilities related to training/education of Clinical Operations Managers.
  • SPD Manager Certification mandatory.
  • Experience with process improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Practical Process Improvement, etc.)
  • Business Competencies
  • Ability to work in a high stress, constantly changing environment. Ability to travel when necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of Operating Room, medical instruments, and O.R. procedures. Ability to interact and teach various levels of learners.
  • Self-motivated; bias for action.
  • Effective negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, priority setting capabilities.
  • Must possess solid managerial, analytical, organizational skills and financial acumen. 
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
