Position Summary

The Software Quality Assurance Analyst writes, maintains, automates, executes and documents testing on software systems.  The QA Analyst works closely with business process owners and users to ensure software systems are tested and validated where appropriate. The individual will perform duties across many areas of the Software Development Lifecycle from requirements gathering to quality assurance.   System testing requires the analyst to be familiar with a variety of technologies including enterprise software products, web applications, desktop applications, mobile applications, database systems, and business intelligence tools.


  1. Establishes software quality standards within the development life cycle including documentation, testing, implementation and maintenance.
  2. Review project documentation and translate requirements into test strategies, test plans and test cases.
  3. Develops test plans to perform QA on various applications.
  4. Develops software validation plans for software within scope of regulatory requirements.
  5. Reviews and evaluates software products and systems to ensure adherence to STERIS-IMS quality standards.
  6. Performs risk assessments on software systems.
  7. Provides QA metrics to accurately reflect project status.
  8. Develops and implements automated testing solutions when appropriate.
  9. Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes to enhance software quality assurance.
  10. Works within IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance to regulatory controls including but not limited to SOX & ISO QS 13485.
  11. Work closely with the IT Director, IT Managers, Project Managers, and Business Process Owners to improve the software quality.  
  12. Aids in the IT general controls processes related to auditing, monitoring, approvals and validation.

  1. Execute test plans to perform various types of testing including: unit, functional, performance, and integration.
  2. Document test results and issues using a issue tracking system.
  3. Work with business users in coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT) for testing completion.
  4. Complete Software Validation documentation to support regulatory requirements.
  5. Using testing documentation tools to document test results and steps to reproduce.
  6. Works with software developers to support defect resolution.
  7. Lead Quality Assurance cycles to ensure applications satisfy end user requirements using a standard process methodology.
  8. Actively participates in reviews of requirements and specifications, to develop, document and implement repeatable test plans.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  1. Bachelor's Degree in an IT-related field with 0-2 years of experience software testing and/or system development lifecycles, as well as, software business requirements and system design documentation methods or High School Diploma and 8 years of equivalent experience
  2. Basic knowledge of relational database concepts and experience writing SQL for purpose of analysis, testing, and troubleshooting
  3. Ability to understand technical business requirements and design solutions.
  4. Experience with Technical and Functional System Designs.
  5. Experience with QA, QA tools, test planning, building test cases, and test plan execution.
  6. Experience with training and implementation of software applications.
  7. Experience developing technical documentation.
  8. Proficient in tools used to document testing.
  9. Experience with a multi-person team approach to projects
  10. Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Proficient in listening and questioning.
  12. Ability to work with little supervision and within changing priorities.
  13. Able to multi-task, prioritize, and complete work in a timely manner.
  14. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  15. Experience with automated and/or performance testing preferred
