Position Summary

The Senior Purchasing Manager will set the short-term and longer-term direction of the Purchasing Department.  She/he will analyze and forecast all aspects of the supply chain and materials and/or equipment.  She/he will analyze and forecast supply and demand of materials and equipment. She/he will gather market intelligence to recommend and lead strategic projects which bring exceptional value to the company through key supplier relationships, cost/benefit financial analysis and supplier quality management.  Regularly updates next level of management on detailed analysis of opportunities, key projects, strategic relationship opportunities, and major spends. 


Responsible for analyzing and forecasting all aspects of supply chain of materials and/or equipment.

Analyzing equipment and material market data and forecast supply & demand.

Continuous monitoring of Equipment and Material Market and ongoing intelligence gathering.

Leads strategically critical projects that bring exceptional value to the company through key supplier relationships, cost/benefit financial analysis and supplier quality management.

Prepares required reports; provides detailed analysis of equipment and materials. 

Coordinates, audit, improve and oversee the following

Securing quotes from qualified vendors

Negotiating with vendors to obtain most favorable prices and services consistent with quality requirements

Purchasing product to support MRP and non-inventory requirements.

Expediting purchase orders in order to maintain material flow and provide customer requests.

Reconciling Accounts Payable discrepancies

Analyze suppliers to determine if the company is a suitable vendor.

Establish improvement objectives for suppliers, analyses their performance, takes the necessary measures to ensure that objectives are reached.

Look for new opportunities and works with others within the supply chain to improve the company’s products and services.

Assist the quality department in assessing and monitoring the supplier’s ability to meet quality and regulatory requirements.

Plan and negotiate long term contracts with favorable impact on inventory goals, quality, and continuity of supply and corporate cost objectives.

Audit and provide management information on purchasing performance criteria.

Manage employee talent and development. Coordinate performance reviews, recruitment/hiring, technical training, salary adjustments, corrective actions, and employee relations. 

Maintain results through coaching, counseling of staff and setting meaningful and measurable goals. Provide growth, training, and development opportunities to employees.

Develop and manage department budget and expenses.

As part as the site’s management team, collaborates in the establishment of local policies and procedures.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent. 
  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management (Preferred)
  • Minimum 10-15 years related in Purchasing, Supply Chain or Equipment or Materials/Suppliers Management experience or equivalent.
  • Miniumum of 5 years of experience in management of staff, employees. 
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, influence, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and working knowledge of scientific methods
