Position Summary

Provides strategic direction in the communication of STERIS products/services/processes as it pertains to specific user areas and/or regulatory compliance (such as joint commission, DNV Hospital Accreditation, etc.) Creates and develops and facilitates messaging and/or educational content that enables the business and our Customers to achieve their objectives.  
 
Acts as a clinical resource business partner to both internal and external customers as it pertains to clinical specialties that partner with STERIS to create a safer healthier world, which include, but not limited to: Infectious Disease, gastroenterology (GI), peri-operative services (OR), ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), and various clinicians.   
Provides deep expertise and service resources for regulatory, statutory, clinical, process, and educational business elements. Assists with sales growth and maintains existing business through educational services for sales, technical, and clinical staffs.   
 
Works proactively and collaboratively with the Director of Training, VP Sales, VP Device Operations, and VP Service Operations to achieve overall clinical education objectives for the department.   

Duties

  • Public Relations 30%:
    • Presents relevant materials at national, regional, and local professional society meetings and/or STERIS Device repair workshops
    • Publishes in newsletters, within blogs, in journals, etc. information relative to industry standards of practice and services relative to product lines and S3 services
    • Validates continuing education program objectives and content to affirm CE eligibility  
    • Works to resolve repetitive problems among sales representatives, support staffs, and problem accounts
    • Creates learning modules and learning event bridging corporate core products with standards of practice for customer edification   
  • Education 30%:  
    • Directs the development and facilitation of ongoing education programs for sales representatives, technical and clinical staffs, and customers that are designed to increase product knowledge, resulting in a better understanding of services and products and sustained utilization of services  
    • Validates programs and activities that certify competency of sales staff in performance of core job duties  
    • Directs tracking of training and continuing education of sales representatives and of other technical and clinical personnel  
    • Monitors, measures, and analyzes training program results  
    • Creates or enhances learning tools to link sales to the health care provider culture
    • Oversees factors relating to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering training and development activities

  • Corporate 10%:
    • Liaise to Director of Training in matters pertinent to STERIS device repair leadership and associated corporate partner needs
    • Promotes choices that guide and develop priorities that are consistent with STERIS repair division long term plans
    • Assesses industry for changes in standards that will impact STERIS device repair delivery
    • Analyzes and interprets business intelligence gathered from various sources  
    • Uses discretion and independent judgment to create and develop internal and/or external communication and educational tools that align with changes to standards or new processes
    • Supports STERIS device repair team as Sterile Processing subject matter experts to gain Customer confidence, grow product line revenue and promote STERIS solutions 
  • Regulatory/Statutory 10%:
    • Maintains knowledge of legislation and rules affecting various aspects of business activities
    • Fosters positive relationships on committees with professional entities that impact our industry 
  • Product Line 10%:
    • Provides clinical expertise to customers, potential customers, sales force and account managers
    • Acts as consultant to healthcare providers regarding standards, through put, infection prevention, and/or construction

Education Degree

Master's Degree

Required Experience

  • Master’s degree in business, Nursing, or Healthcare Management from an accredited college or university
  • 10 years of previous education and training experience; highly preferred clinical education
  • 5 years of experience practicing as a Registered Nurse in key specialty areas (Infectious Disease, Gastroenterology, Peri-operative Service) with the corresponding specialty nursing certification obtained  
  • AORN or SGNA memberships preferred; must be able to acquire within 2 years of hire
  • Minimum of 2 Sterile Processing Certifications (CRCST and or CIS, CFER, CHL or the equivalent) preferred; the ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
  • Quality Training with certification preferred (ASQ, Lean, Six Sigma) or fellowship from AORN, AAMI, or APIC.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in LEAN/5S concepts; will need to be highly versed in STERIS LEAN programs
