Position Summary

Responsible for overall performance of Customer facing Education offerings including financial, operational, Employee Experience, and Customer Experience metrics.  Maintains Educational capacity to meet Customer demand for education offerings, develops Clinical Education Managers, ensures Educators are trained and competent, and ensures consistent standardized operations, tools, and Customer approach are developed and followed.

Provides support, training, education and communication to Education leadership team and Instrument Processing Division leadership on industry and educational updates.  Ensures Educational offerings are in compliance with industry standards such as the Department of Health, The Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC, DNV, AAMI and AORN standards and STERIS policies and procedures. This is an experienced leadership and professional subject matter expert, exhibits a high-level of communication, and contributes to the overall performance of the Instrument Processing Division. Domestic travel up to 75% required.


1.    Participates in setting and managing department objectives to support IP Division objectives and goals to improve Customer Experience, Employee Experience, Continuous Improvement, and Profitable Growth. 
2.    Partners with IP Leadership and Business Development to develop Customer facing Education and Training proposals, successfully win Customer extensions, and successfully meet Customer expectations. 
3.    Demonstrates complete understanding of Instrument Processing Solutions’ processes and the requirements to successfully manage, train and implement in a contracted facility.
4.    Provides senior level leadership support to Customers with executive level interactions to ensure positive Customer Experience and STERIS branding.
5.    Develops and enforces the implementation of policies, new processes, procedures, product conversions, new services, and programs in conjunction with the contract and STERIS to improve client service.
6.    Conducts meetings with STERIS Education team on a regular basis to communicate timely updates of project objectives and resolve any barriers.  
7.    Interviews, hires, onboards, assists with training, and coaches employees to meet company objectives and customer requirements. 
8.    Analyzes turnover and exit interview data to develop and implement retention strategies.
9.    Coordinates with the Education management team to track and manage the performance of all Educators across the US to ensure all Educators are meeting Customer and field management expectations. Actions on performance shortcomings. 
10.    Maintains professional relationships with key contracted facilities departments, as necessary and within contractual guidelines, to ensure effective, efficient support as it relates to the scope of the contract. Resolves client issues in a timely and efficient manner. Ensures proper education and training coverage at the facility.
11.    Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of the facility contract and the project implementation plan.    
12.    Ensure Educators are fulfilling the necessary responsibility of accounts, and goal setting based on contract deliverables which may include auditing and reviewing weekly reporting agendas, documentation, and providing guidance and promote customer service to all team members 
13.    Ensures that employee education files and training records are complete and accurate.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree Required and 7+ years education/training experience, or high school diploma and 15+ years of education/training experience
  2. 5+ years Sterile Processing experience
  3. 5+ years Leadership, management, or consulting experience
  4. CRCST (IAHCSMM) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification required
  5. CER (IAHCSMM) or CFER (CBSPD) certification required
  6. CIS (IAHCSMM) or CSIS (CBSPD) certification required.
  7. CHL (IAHCSMM) or CSPM (CBSPD) required within 12 months of hire or promotion
  8. Must maintain valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and be available to operate a vehicle as needed to meet travel requirements.

Preferred Experience

  1. Master’s Degree Preferred
  2. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification Preferred
  3. Project management Certification Preferred       


  1. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, coworkers, and all levels of hospital staff.
  2. Demonstrated customer centric behavior. Proficient analytical skills.
  3. Models behavior that is appropriate for affiliation with each facility and IMS
  4. Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, and resolve issues in complex situations.
  5. Requires thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and is capable of learning software.
  6. Ability to multi-task projects including the ability to plan and organize.
  7. Flexible and self-motivated.
  8. Ability to read and understand applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
