Position Summary

The Purchasing Manager ensures that the organization receives materials in a timely and efficient manner, at competitive prices, without compromising safety and quality standards.

  1. Coordinate, audit, improve and oversee the following:
      1. Securing quotes from qualified vendors. 
      2. Negotiating with vendors to obtain most favorable prices and services consistent with quality requirements. 
      3. Purchasing product to support MRP and non-inventory requirements.
      4. Expediting purchase orders in order to maintain material flow and provide customer requests.
      5. Reconciling Accounts Payable discrepancies. 
  2. Analyze suppliers to determine if the company is a suitable vendor.
  3. Establish improvement objectives for suppliers, analyses their performance, takes the necessary measures to ensure that objectives are reached.
  4. Look for new opportunities and works with others within the supply chain to improve the company’s products and services.

  1. Assist the quality department in assessing and monitoring the supplier’s ability to meet quality and regulatory requirements.
  2. Plan and negotiate long term contracts with favorable impact on inventory goals, quality, and continuity of supply and corporate cost objectives.
  3. Audit and provide management information on purchasing performance criteria.
  4. Manage employee talent and development. Coordinate performance reviews, recruitment/hiring, technical training, salary adjustments, corrective actions, and employee relations.  Maintain results through coaching, counseling of staff and setting meaningful and measurable goals. Provide growth, training, and development opportunities to employees.
  5. Develop and manage department budget and expenses. As part as the site’s management team, establish the local policies and procedures as well as local projects.  Other duties as may be assigned. 
Education Degree
Bachelor's Degree in Business
Required Experience
  1. Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years purchasing experience. 
  2. Three (3) years of supervisory experience.   
  3. Demonstrated technical knowledge related to area of responsibility. 
  4. Excellent organizational, communication, team-building, coaching, and decision making skills. 
  5. Effective interpersonal and influence management skills to interact with cross-functional team members.   
  6. Fluent in English as well as the prevalent language at the facility.
