Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring Customer Education engagements meet contractual expectations while driving positive Customer Experience and continued growth in Educational service offerings.  Provides experienced leadership and professional subject matter expertise while interacting with Customer leadership and internal STERIS leadership.  Assists senior leadership in setting and achieving STERIS Education goals and objectives.  Manages team of Educators ensuring they are properly trained and operating within the guidelines set forth by industry standards and regulations including, but not limited to IAHCSMM, CBSPD, AORN, The Joint Commission, FDA, CDC, DNV OSHA, AAMI and those of STERIS and its Customer facilities. Capable of supporting and working with all Instrument Processing Division’s engagements to include but not limited to Customer Process Improvement, Off-Site Reprocessing Centers and/or Outsourced engagements. Domestic Travel up to 100%.

Duties

  • Demonstrates complete understanding of the Instrument Processing Division’s processes and the ability to manage, train and implement in a contracted facility.
  • Consults with Customers to ensure contractual expectations are clarified, resources appropriately allocated, and educational schedule is developed and implemented.  Provides regular Customer follow-up and communication to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Ensure Educators are fulfilling the necessary responsibility of accounts, and goal setting based on contract deliverables which may include auditing and reviewing weekly reporting agendas, documentation, and providing guidance and promote customer service to all team members.
  • Tracks and manages the performance of team across assigned region to ensure all Educators are meeting customer and field management expectations.
  • Interviews, hires, onboards, assists with training, and coaches employees to meet company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Completes team documentation and team audits of training records, employee education files and documentation of competency skill level.
  • Conducts meetings with STERIS IPS employees on a regular basis to communicate timely updates of project objectives and resolve any barriers. 
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, onboarding and assists with training. Coaches employees to meet company objectives and customer requirements. 
  • Manages PTO schedules across the nation to ensure coverage for all Customer sites.

  • Ensure effectiveness of twelve-week training module for new employees with or without central sterile processing experience. Must be able to leverage on-site leadership feedback, education documentation, and in person site visits to determine effectiveness of twelve-week training module.
  • Drive standard staff education action items as well as maintain flexible endoscopy, High-Level Disinfection, and onsite certification courses.
  • Complete the Train the Trainer program for Customers when contracted and applicable from interview process to competency check completion and education hand off. Ensuring all facility-based policies and procedure are followed during training period, limiting STERIS resource sharing.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of multi-specialty instrumentation and serves as a resource for staff in SPD.

Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree Required and 4+ years education/training experience, or high school diploma and 12+ years of education/training experience
  2. 4+ years Sterile Processing experience
  3. CRCST (IAHCSMM) or CBSPD (CBSPD) Certification required
  4. CER (IAHCSMM) or CFER (CBSPD) Certification required
  5. CIS (IAHCSMM) or CSIS (CBSPD) certification required
  6. CHL (IAHCSMM) or CSPM (CBSPD) certification required within 12 months of hire or promotion
  7. Must maintain valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and be available to operate a vehicle as needed to meet travel requirements.
  8. Must be able to travel to assigned locations and successfully complete Customer’s background and medical standards.
  9. Master’s Degree preferred
  10. Lean Six Sigma – Black Belt Certification preferred
  11. Project Management Certification preferred
  12. Leadership, management, or consulting experience 1+ year
