Position Summary

At STERIS, the CNC Machine Operators produce machined parts under close supervision by operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The position requires employees to maintain quality and safety standards, accurate time and record keeping, and demonstrate cleanliness and organization. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This is a night shift position.

This a clean shop with air cooled environment. STERIS provides all necessary equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

What You Will Do

•    Intermediate ability to interpret technical prints. 
•    Intermediate knowledge and use of CNC machine G&M Code and troubleshooting skills to identify and communicate program improvements to programmers.
•    Setup, operate and adjust machining equipment for basic and intermediate complexity part production without supervision.
•    Monitors quality of parts produced utilizing basic and advanced visual metrology devices to ensure Customer requirements are met and follows procedure for handling nonconforming parts.
•    Abides by all Company safety and health policies and procedures.
•    Must use personal protective equipment if required.
•    Aware of and conforms to company ISO goals and objectives and supports company ISO requirements.
•    Aware of and actively participates in company’s Lean philosophy of continuous improvement.
•    Ensures measuring devices used to check product quality are calibrated prior to use.
•    Maintains in-process product identification.
 

Education Degree

  • Vocational/Technical

What Will Help You Be Successful

  • 1 year Machining experience in addition to Vocational/Technical degree or 4 years CNC Machining in lieu of degree
  • Experience in a CNC I capacity.  
  • CNC set-up.
  • Intermediate knowledge of CNC G&M codes.  
  • Data entry system experience.  
  • Intermediate level of reading and interpreting technical drawings.  
  • Experience running multiple types of machines.  
  • Good hand/eye coordination (manual dexterity), basic organizational and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.  
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Ability to problem solve within area of responsibility.  
  • Displays positive attitude and confidence.  
  • Driving Results - Is aware of his/her developing progress toward Personal Productivity.
